Hi All. The onstar in my truck keeps giving me an emergency calling message when I didn't press any buttons. The button is illuminated red instead of green. Along with that google maps won't find my current position and the speed limit indicator doesn't display. Did a forum search and couldn't find anything. Am I to assume this is an onstar network issue? Thanks!

Damn.....sorry to hear that. Hopefully it'll clear or the dealer can fix it!

Funny enough my onstar button went red 2 weeks ago, no messages though. It was late, so didn't want to hit the onstar button to puzzle it out with the operator, but did try restarting the truck, still red.
Next morning figured I'd deal with it and all was green. (Or is it blue?)

Your OnStar Module is having an Issue
That is why it is doing that

It seems to happen when the OnStar Light Turns "Red"

“emergency services calling” and the Onstar light turned red. We pressed the button and the diagnostic report came back with error code B19DA.

“The OnStar System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Wireless Communication System which provides security and safety features, turn by turn navigation, Wi-Fi, and much more. This may impact the ability for OnStar to assist in a crash and provide other services that you have requested.“

Might be part of some of the Bad OnStar Modules
If you have a Bad OnStar Module it will also cause issues with the GPS, Navigation, Super Cruise, Some of the Distance Warnings....... And other items

Here is a link to a Thread here on the Forum about it:

There was a bad batch of OnStar modules across several GM models. It will also cause a parasitic battery drain.

Take it to the dealer. The part is on national backorder.

In the meantime, you can pull fuse #11 to turn the light off and prevent a potential dead battery. It will affect your maps, auto highbeams, front collision warning, and some other options that you can temporarily live without.

Fuse #11 under the hood, or in the front passenger footwell?

I'm guessing there can also be a communication error at times since my onstar returned to normal the next day.
I was only on a short errand run, so its not like I was using gps navigation etc to spot other systems not working.
I'm actually surprised I noticed the light was red.

If it just happened once
Could of been anything
But, the OnStar is the "Idiot Light" for the Module
So much goes through that Module

But if it is the Module
The Module needs to be replaced

Taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. Spent some time on the phone with OnStar. They sent reset signals twice with no difference. Sounds like a bad onstar module with I’m sure they won’t have in stock.

There was a lot of Bad Modules across many models
It should be a pretty straight forward fix... As long as they can get the part

Hopefully that does work out
Otherwise it would be a new Module needed
