Hey guys I picked up some Mevotech TTX upper control arms from Rockauto and I figured I would share my thoughts. I paid $95 each which I feel like is a great price. They fit great. They’re way beefier than the factory arms. They have a grease fitting. I don’t see many people running these so I figured I would let y’all know that they are a great alternative to the factory control arms. I’m running them with 2 inches of lift and no binding what so ever.

Neat. Didn't know those existed. I'm a fan of booted joints. How was your alignment after ? Are they similar to stock angles or designed for lift ?

Any pics of them side by side with OEM ?

Yeah, I'd like to know more about these vs OEM in terms of length and ball joint range of motion. Replacing my front struts is on my to-do list to add some height to match the rear better but I'd like to also upgrade the control arms and all of the aftermarket ones I've found are stupid expensive, so these seem like a great alternative if they provide a bit more droop over the stock uppers.

Well here is my thoughts. I purchased a set of “freedom off-road” control arms. I went to install them and they would not fit. They were hitting the droop stops. I lowered the truck all the way on the ground (all weight down) and they weren’t even close. Not sure if it was because I have 4 inch maxtrac spindles and the eibach pro truck lift or not. Nonetheless it would not fit period. I will attach pics. I called them and they said I had to email them. So I emailed them and told them the issues I was having and they said they couldn’t help me because the were “installed” and considered “used” and no refunds. Finally after basically begging they sent me the go ahead to ship them back. So I lost shipping cost and restocking fee. Customer service was awful to say the least.

Then I had my mind set on the SPC. I still think they’re the best control arm you can buy. They have more articulation than any other control and and they are fully adjustable which is awesome. BUT the big issue with them is that you’re going to pay $600 for a set and the control arms are only as good as your alignment man. What I mean by that is if you don’t personally know him or trust him he isn’t going to take the “extra time” to fine tune and adjust the settings on the ball joint. He will just put it within adjustment and let it ride. Also the SPC customer service is jam up! I talked on the phone with them for about a hour discussing if they would fit or not.

Finally I found these Mevotech TTX control arms. At just $200 these control arms cost exactly the same as GM on rockauto. These control arms are 100% beefier. They have exact angles as stock. But as you see from the pics it’s not bad on 2 inches of lift. They aligned perfect he said only the toe was out of alignment. PLUS the warranty cannot be beat. Lifetime warranty. So it’s up to what you like. For me personally I think I made the best decision.

Thanks for the further information ! I agree you made a great choice. Even more great to share your thoughts on it now, and hopefully throughout the life of it, so people have another option to look at for UCAs.

Agree the SPC UCA alignment is only as good as the tech. My technique has been to set the jam nut angles myself and then get it aligned where they adjust around that (usually they won't touch it). I'll ask and visually inspect the other alignment components to see if I'm close to maxing out any of them and adjust the SPC accordingly, then bring it back for another alignment (lol paid for the Firestone lifetime alignments on the truck, and I'm going to use them !)
