I wonder what the price on that thing will be. I had no idea it was based off Nissan lol. Never been a big Mercedes fan though.

The Benz was going to have a tough time here with a mid size that would cost more than a full size.

The Hyundai will be a big problem for Honda as it will be cheaper, uni body and better styled. It is a major jump into the CUV/Truck segment. It will not play well with traditional truck buyers but it will attract attention of the many CUV buyers.

Looks a lot like a Canyon bed/cab with a Taco front-end. The gate and tail lights look nearly identical to GMC, to me.

I think this one will be on the same chassis that was supposed to be the new Nissan Frontier USA model that many people have been patiently waiting for and really hasn't even materialized yet. If it has the new four bar link rear end, it will be quite interesting. I was really hoping to see a midsize truck from Nissan in the USA market but they are still cranking out the Frontiers. The Mercedes looks nice but I think the GM has a clear advantage and an earlier jump on the midsize truck market in the USA already.

They call it the "world's first premium pickup" Really? Have the germans never seen a GMC Canyon SLT? It's not even a real Mercedes. It's a crappy Japanese Nissan, a product of badge engineering. Some people aren't happy unless they're driving a grille.

First "premium" pickup? What about the Cadillac Escalade pickup or the Lincoln....not premium enough?
Personally, my daughter drives a Benz and it's a piece of crap. It is the low end C class, but still a Benz. Always has some sort of problem. The list is too long to post here. If it were mine, I would have dumped it long ago.

According to the MO-rOn who wrote this article, basing their truck off the (global replacement for the)Nissan Frontier
"gives the Mercedes some serious truck cred".
How do these people who CLEARLY have ZERO knowledge about automotive things, get jobs writing about all things automotive?
That's gotta be one of the dumbest statements I've read in an automotive piece, and especially as of late, I've had the misfortune of reading some
pretty stupid ****

This is just about money. They will sell in low numbers at a high price. They are using a Nissan because of the low volume.

People will buy for the badge

But like the Lincoln truck twice failed it would be tough go in our market.

The only truck premium truck line to work has been the Denali line. GMC keeps the cost down as they use 90% of the standard truck and add mostly inexpensive options vs the price increase. This is just added profits.

They still account for 25% of GMC sales but even then many of those are SUV sales.

We have a 2010 C300. It's been great the whole time we've had it. Drove it to Houston and back four times (3000 mile round trip). Also have driven it to San Francisco twice, Phoenix, Az a few times. No problems. The only time it's been in is for regular service and recalls. I guess it's like anything else; there are good ones and there are bad ones.

Never understood the short beds overseas. Even the Holden is short unless it is a Z71 with tall rail caps.

I suspect in the countries where these trucks sale in high numbers, especially Southeast Asia, the average adult is considerably shorter than the average American. And they won't to be able to reach over the sides to access things.

Don't tell Yao Ming that LOL!

I had considered that too but I can't reach over the beds here either.

I suspect it is just a market thing as they also use external hooks in many far east bed and some even have dropsides. It may just be market expectations or preference. We Americans like the beds deep because that is just the way we have been used to them. Also we use a lot of covers too.

The answer is in the middle of all this.
