Hello-

I have a 06 4cyl base model Colorado.

This truck has been good to me except today.

I went out to start the truck and I have NO power at all. No horn, dash, radio, blower....NOTHING.

I have taken the battery to get it tested two different places and they say it is in good shape. When I meter it, I get 13.1V.

Does anyone have any ideas. I would like to get it running so I can use it for work. Grounds, Passlock, anything?????

Thanks!!

You checked the wiring going to the battery? Ground is secure on the other end? Red wire is secure? If the battery is certain to be good then it has to be something obvious. Pull your fuse panel cover, any power there? Does the dome light come on when you open the door?

I have checked the BAT ground and positive cables too. There is nothing loose there.

If meter at the connection of the red cable to the fuse block I would think I should get 12V there also, correct? I don't have to have the ignition on? I am going to go do another dummy check and make sure all my info is correct.

THanks for the reply.

See if items like the headlights or anything else that would normally work with the key off.

There should be a main fuse on the top of the fuse block under the hood. I think it is about 100A.

As mike stated, check all ends of the battery cables and where they mount to. Check all the fuses including the main fuse mentioned above. Otherwise it could be an ignition switch.

Really just need more info and some basic testing and observation to go further.

OK. I do have 12V at the red cable that connects to the fuse box. I also have power at the horn relay with a meter but I don't get any noise.

just now there was a buzz under that dash/firewall that is pulsing?? I can figure out what it is before it quits.

Also check the main ground packs. Search for grounds. I think there are four main grounds (2 under the hood near the fenders, and two near the A-pillars under plastic trim). Not certain, but cart and others know them better than I do.

There is a mega fuse (100 amp) that sits next to the fuse panel. It is on the engine side of the fuse panel. It says 100 on it and has 2 vertical studs sticking out of it with nuts on them. Measure the voltage from each vertical stud to ground. When testing do not use the battery as your negative meter connection. Use some bolt head on the engine or the body. (I'm testing to see if your battery ground connections are also good.) There should be 12 volts there at all times.

If there isn't 12 volts, then you need to work backwards toward the battery. Move the negative meter lead to the battery and try again. If it is still no good then you have a problem with positive battery cable connection.

If there is 12 volts in the first test then you need to move forward and choose one item that does not work and trouble shoot it. Maybe the headlights. Shoot that problem.

BTW, Does anything electrical work?

This really sounds like a blown mega fuse or a bad battery cable connection. You should be able to find it quickly with your meter.
