Just checked my 2018 Colorado CCD for any outstanding recalls. There’s apparently a GM recall N192273630. Has anyone else received this notice ?

Nothing comes up when a search is done for that number. What are the specifics? Problem/Cause and resolution?

I went to https://my.gm.com/recalls, entered my VIN, and no recalls are shown.

Interesting, wonder if this will happen in the US or not. Thanks for the info!

I'm more familiar with United States Recall Law than I am with Canadian, but I know in the US, the government requires the manufacturer notify the consumer of the known defect even if a remedy isn't available. This is a software solution, so beyond writing the code, they have to create instructions, notify/train the dealership, etc., etc., My suggestion if you aren't experiencing any problems, then just mention this the next time you get your vehicle serviced.

This must be a Canada-only recall or they haven’t started the campaign in the US yet as the only ones in this thread showing the recall (you and the OP) are in Canada.

I wouldn’t say my regen intervals are excessive, normally around 400 miles (640km), which seems pretty normal. I’ll be watching to see what happens with the recall for you guys.

yes
I was checking the Chevy app in the truck and it came up 1 service notice
I clicked it and it said there is a Regeneration recall.
Said the regen maybe happening more often but not on long enough to actually clean the DPF....
Funny thing about that is that since I been monitoring the regen system I have noticed a regen cycle at just under 2 times per tank.
Then tonight on the way home it went from 75% to 96% in just minutes......

I also noticed that a regen on my truck only takes 10-15 minutes to go from 100% to 0%
then in just a few minutes climb to 20%. So obviously not on long enough to clean all the soot out.....

What I want to know is...... Has this been going on since the introduction of this truck
or
Is there a difference in the ECU programming since 2016?
and When did it take place?

My other concern is that it mentions in a round about way that suggests the ECU should have detected that the the DPF was not cleaned.
and
This issue is causing excessive emissions.....

So if this has been going on since day one. And I haven’t read of any DPF failures.
should we get the recall done.
Will this recall cause check engine codes, do to the fact that they are going to make the ECU more sensitive to minor issues with the DPF........

also I been reading and watching on YouTube about the new 3.0 Silverado and those that have them saying that they seem to be doing a lot of regens .......

anyone else monitoring there trucks regens

Rob

Funny as I've been logging my regens and they are pretty consistent every 200 miles, that sucks. Here's to hoping they find a solution and bring it to the States. My MPGs really take a hit when it regens so often.

Just talked to the person who bought my 2016 Duramax 2.8L and they received the recall notice 2 days ago.. It has over 195,000 kms on it and has never had a DPF problem or inconsistent regent intervals. So I suspect the recall is all year Duramax 2.8l.
Drax, yes these are Canadian owned trucks. I suspect the states will be getting a notice as well.
As a point of interest, all the L5P Duramax 6.6l had the same(DPF monitering) recall/flash done about 6 months back.

I'm in Canada. I've never been happy with my regen intervals, they seem excessive. I haven't received the notice yet. Probably next week.

Well, I am taking mine in tomorrow for the 1st service at 6,600 mi, and I am going to discuss this recall issue with the techs. Quite frankly, I haven't followed the regen cycles at all so I am not sure what the real issue is.

I just checked the GM recall site mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but there was 'no hit' when I entered my VIN. If I get any useable info from the dealer tomorrow, I will post it here. Thanks for alerting me to this issue.
It's currently a Canada-only recall but your dealer might be able to still look it up and give you details that you can pass along even though your truck isn't included.

I posted about this issue 8 months ago but it got merged and buried in the regen thread: https://www.coloradofans.com/threads/regen-intervals-and-noticeabilty.280970/post-5180695

went from 600-700kms between regens to 150-200 kms. no change in driving habits.

I got the 'no cel = no problem' line essentially when I brought it in for them to look at. Looks like 'no cel = problem' now. I see the recall notice on the my.gm site for my VIN but I guess until they have a solution, we sit and wait? She's sleeping for the winter anyway.

Is this still a Canada thing? I’m just out of warranty and think the dealer flashed a newer update as it seems different...along with a new nox sensor. (Still had a original one that was two part numbers old). The truck runs waaaay better with the new nox sensor. I see they issued a new pm sensor part number and was considering trying it.

I just went on-line to check for any recalls, and none were reported. I can only guess that this is still, for some reason, limited to Canada (or some other planet!).

My truck is included in the recall. The fact that this is a Transport Canada recall and reads in part:

"The engine control module (ECM) in these vehicles may not adequately diagnose or illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (Check Engine Light) when frequent regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) occurs".

This says to me the government simply doesn't want us burning extra fuel for regens once our DPF filters fill up with ash. We won't know about this issue if the check engine light does not come on. Sounds to me that there is nothing actually wrong with the truck which is why there is no recall in the U.S. It has nothing to do with actually changing the regen interval. Looks like the environmentalist hippies want to make the lives of diesel truck owners miserable by pestering us with unnecessary check engine lights. I certainly will not be first in line when this "fix" is ready.

I've been manually recording my regens and even with a ton of highway driving it's every 120-170 miles, seems pretty ridiculous to me. I hope GM steps up to remedy this as my great mileage really has taken a hit.

Not sure where you are at, but every winter I drop 3 mpg due to a combination of winter fuel, colder air and more warm up time.
I track every regen , my 2016 would regen every 650- 800 kms during warmer weather and 450-650 kms in winter, due to more idle time.
My 2020 has done the same so far.

Not likely as most dealers go by the "no check engine light no problem." I can't even get my dealer to fix my squeaky brakes which has a TSB...
