Fuel Filter Micron Ratings

TBH, don't get too stuck on this micron rating stuff. I remember when I had my 2012 6.6 Dmax and I went nuts about micron ratings, filter media etc and in the end the OEM filter was the best one out there and it was made by Baldwin. The only thing I did do to make the OEM or final filter last longer was to add another filter with a lift pump before the OEM filter. I never heard of anyone who had an engine or fuel system failure because of the OEM fuel filter. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it is very rare The same can be said about oil filters as well. I think there's some general concern about fuel quality with injectors sticking on the 2.8L... Mostly from early years, but there have been 2x 2019 failures reported recently.

I've seen cars recalled for much less of a reason (especially recently), yet for some reason GM has been silent about this, hence why I encourage owners of blown up 2.8l to file NHTSA reports about it.
