If you're speaking of the engine top cover, it's not missing it was never there from the factory.

Thanks! This photo matches mine pretty closely. The Chevy dealer had a photo that showed a V8 emblem on the top cover but they could not find a part number. Thanks again!

 

Yeah, I don't believe any of the GMT-355 V8s came with any engine covers or significant markings on them, even though the platform mate GMT-360 (Trailblazer/Envoy/etc.) V8s did have a revised air intake resonator setup that had "Vortec 5300" on it instead of the three-into-two chambers the truck V8s had (as shown in the red truck above).
