Entering password every time starting truck

Have had my Denali for 4 months now. Was fooling around in the infotainment screen the other day, and can’t remember what I did, but I know I had to sign in somewhere on a page. Now, every time I start my truck I have to input my password. Anyone else have this? Apple car play still plays, just can’t get into the screen to see the menu. Have never had to do this before I screwed things up lol.

have you reset it? aka hold the hang-up button down for 10-15 seconds

what happens if you do not ahve your phone connected, aka apple car play

Definitely the “Trusted Device” issue… The same thing happened to me after I set my phone up as a trusted device - and it asked me if I wanted to set a password. I did and then had to enter the password every time I started the truck.

I don’t remember exactly where it is, but in Settings there’s a Security menu. In there, you can turn the password requirement off…

Truck was in for recall today…had to adjust ambient light sensor to turn lights on quicker. while there, got them to look into my password issue. It seems I put a “screen lock” on somehow lol. They took it off, all good now.

I just got hit with this on a 2024 GMC HD2500 Denali. Dealer didn't know, GMC customer support didn't know, and there's no mention of it in the owners manual (which you have to BUY now if you want a freakin printed copy!)

I landed on this thread via a web search, and it left enough of a bread crumb trail for me to find it.

The "Magic Word" can be found in the Infotainment system under: Settings -> Security -> Choose a lock type. Choosing "none" will turn off the nag prompt. Apparently somewhere in the process of setting up your phone as a 'trusted device', it prompts you to set a lock but doesn't really explain the consequences of doing so until it's "too late". I remember getting prompted to set up a pin while I was going through the process of configuring my new truck, but this was just one option out of the many I was setting up on the new truck so when the thing started prompting me for it at every single startup, I didn't remember where the associated setting was.

I just joined here so that I could share this information in case someone else gets frustrated by it.

I figured GM was just trying this out in conjunction with their plan to charge you a subscription to drive your vehicle.

Or maybe it is part of the new Federal requirement to require you to breathe into the breath analyzer before you drive away every time to make sure you aren't driving drunk.

Don’t forget that Google has its own login crap embedded into the system too. It took me hours to turn off all the google services so that it doesn’t ask me to login to google every time I start the truck.

Its pretty much the same as a screen lock on your phone, when your screen times out or is powered off it kicks in so the next time you use it you have to enter your password, It seems like GM didnt do a great job at explaining this...

Click on your profile name at top of home screen->Manage Profile(top right)->Security->Profile Lock->you will have to enter PIN you established earlier and once it opens you can choose none. You are done, starts up without PIN after that.
