I was under the hood of my new-to-me 2016 Colorado 3.6L V6 looking where I'm going to be mounting an oil catch can.... and that engine cover SUXX so it has to go bye bye!

So, after seeing the underside of the engine cover... I'm assuming the only way to get ride of it is to install an aftermarket cold air intake kit?

I'd rather not have to do that and retain the stock air box and instead just replace the pipe from the throttle body over to the air box.

Does anybody know if there's someplace that sells just the pipe?

Or am I stuck having to use a cold air intake kit?

I was able to mount the catch can on my 2016 up front without having to delete the engine cover.
The engine cover is ugly and very irritating to get on and off so it's history on my truck... even if I have to make my own pipe from the throttle body to the stock air box.

Once I get the new air pipe installed... and I'm gonna go out back and BURN that engine cover!

I know K&N make the Kit for the LGZ so they might also make it for the LFX:
Here is how it is mine:

That OEM intake plenum is a monster! I first put a KN CAI on my gen2, but found it obnoxiously loud so replaced that with an aFe Momentum CAI which I preferred. Nothing against KN, I have used them for decades on trucks, bikes and ATVs. Deletion of that cover gives much better visibility/access to the top and front of the engine as well.

Yes, they make one for my engine but after reading numerous posts from folks that used the K&N setup, it was extra loud... so I think I'm just going to focus on installing just the pipe from air box to throttle body so I can get rid of the OEM engine cover.

At this point it's not about improving performance or anything other than getting rid of this ridiculous engine cover.

Not to mention it's bound to contribute to retaining engine heat under the hood.

Not sure what anyone else supposedly experienced
But no increase in Engine Noise

When I went Fully Functioning Ram Air in my Tahoes
Yes there was a louder exhaust sound when you got on it

After seeing what others have done, and hearing the complaints about noise when getting rid of the stock air box.... I bought the following items online last night:

3 inch Universal Kit (I'm just going to be using the pipe only)

I got 2 of these 3 inch flexible couplers to make sure the setup is plenty flexible

And, it caught my attention on the forum here that some are claiming to have good results from using this throttle Body Spacer so what the hay, I figured I'd try one too.... the people that make this also make CAI Kits and they claim this little guy adds 7 ponies, so we'll see how that feels on the butt dyno
