diesel fuel additive question

Not only is additive a good idea, GM recommends AC Delco "diesel fuel conditioner" when Top Tier diesel fuel is unavailable. I prefer Diesel Kleen because it's widely available, affordable, lot of folks I know swear by it and I also use the other Power Service products like biocide and tank cleaner for maintaining my long term fuel storage.

Edit: Diesel Kleen also ticks off all the boxes that GM recommends for multifunctional fuel conditioner, not just improving lubricity.

If TOP TIER Detergent Diesel fuel is not available locally, GM recommends the use of ACDelco Diesel Fuel Conditioner. It is a multifunctional additive that helps clean engine deposits, improves lubricity and cold temperature fuel flow, reduces fuel filter plugging, enhances corrosion protection and fuel stability, and boosts cetane. And if low-quality fuel has already been used, GM recommends adding ACDelco Fuel System Treatment Plus – Diesel to help clean engine deposits.

ACD GM Diesel Fuel Conditioner
11oz bottle $6 ea (if you can find it)
treats 30 gal
$0.20 per gal

PS Diesel Kleen
32oz bottle $9.24 ea ($110.87 / 12pack)
treats 50-100 gal
$0.18 per gal

Hot Shot's Secret EDT
16oz bottle is $20
treats 200-400 gal
$0.10 per gal

PS Diesel Kleen is $23.49 locally for me for an 80oz bottle. Nowhere special, Advanced Auto. Which makes it ~ $0.10/gal.

Hot Shot's Secret EDT is $0.05 if you don't use the "super duper" dosing and go with the 400gal option lol.

I've posted this a few times but found it very informative:

Old post (2003), but Diesel Kleen talks about emulsifiers, anti-emulsification, and Diesel Kleen in this post. Not advertising for them, just passing along information that was well presented (for me)

Some great points! Thanks for the extra info. I used the Amazon prices for the comparison, so guess I should have mentioned that local prices may vary.
