A Summary of the Colorado/Caynon from the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Chevy had 4 Colorado's on display. The Lifegaurd extended cab, 2 silver crew cab Long Beds, and 1 Brown Crew Cab short bed. I saw a Brown and Red Caynon driving, and There was a silver one that was at the Buick/GMC dealer display.
2 of the Colorados had the factory spray in bedliner and that looked nice. Now on to the Caynon. I am 6 foot 2 inches. I hopped into the driver seat the seat had no power, so I can't speak to how the seat was set. It felt smaller than my 2002 Bravada, However it felt bigger than sitting in an SSR and maybe a little smaller than an equinox (been a while since I have sat in a equinox). I didn't notice if the pedals were adjustable. However the steering wheel goes up an down in and out. I was able to adjust it where I think I would probably be ok driving it.
There are a lot of usb ports. The Center Console is deep and has a usb port inside. There was plenty of headroom in the Caynon. When I sat in the back I was comfortable. You should have no problem fitting friends or coworkers. Height wise the top of the truck was about eye level. I thought the seats were extremely comfortable.

I should of taken more photos but wasn't really thinking. I always seem to forget I have a camera on my phone. As far as the bumper I want to say it was painted, but I can't remember for sure, I was more excited about sitting in it that I kinda forgot about everything else.

How was the quality of the interior? Similar to the quality of a Sierra?
I would say the quality was on par with Sierra. The Interior definitely didn't feel cheap.

That quicksilver metallic looks good on that truck.

Has anyone gotten a good look at the active grilles. Can you get a picture of those that shows it well?

Extended cab has suicide doors, that is a front hinged door, so crew cab. I do wonder where the front seat was set. If it was all the way back, then perhaps not so bad.

He is a decent size guy a 6'2", so perhaps not too much concern. My typical test is to adjust front seat for me than sit in the back . If I am reasonable comfortable, then most people will have enough room.

Definitely not going to put 3 guys his size comfortably in the back of that truck.

I am a little concerned he felt the cab was smaller than an Equinox. Equinox is ~2" narrower, a little shorter, but probably also less ground clearance.

Or hire smaller guys.

I think the target market for this truck in a crew cab configuration from GM's standpoint is family with small children or a very rare occasion of grown adults in rear seat.

Thinking about it more, the crew cab and extended cab trucks have totally different markets.

Crew cab is targeting that crossover SUV market that GM has spoken about, while extended cab is targeting the work truck - fleet market for service industries. If you really need to haul a work crew to a site, get a FS crew cab.

I know a lot of people are looking at the extended cab here as a personal vehicle, but I think they are mainly single people or without children, who just want to be able to haul the bass boat down to the lake on weekends.

**** that rear seat looks small. Maybe for a quick jaunt down to the pub it would be ok, but if you are taking a road trip then forget about it.

*sigh* **** it. When I first read that the leg room was going to be only 35 inches in the back, I nearly died. They really needed to peg this to midsize sedans and crossovers, where 41 inches up front and 37-38 in the back is pretty standard.

This thing is now a massive 213 inches long and it still looks a little small inside. I was thinking that the extra size of this truck would equate to a larger interior. I hope when I see it in person it seems a little bigger inside. Back seat headroom and legroom look terrible. I usually don't have backseat passengers, so I could live with that - but I hate feeling crowded with limited headroom.

Yeah, that back seat area looks too small. I really hope this isn't Malibu Chapter 2. We wanted to buy a new Malibu when the new body style came out a couple years ago but the rear seat leg room was a joke. I've said on here before that I sent and sat in a 4-dr Colorado at the dealership a few years ago and the back seat was a non-starter for me (2 adults, 2 kids). We did the same when the Malibu came out and it was also a non-starter. GM finally had to admit they screwed up and revised the Malibu to try and squeak out a little more back seat leg room. I was really aggravated at that.

That photo of the Canyon's rear seat looks like my experience in the Malibu. There's no excuse for not giving us adequate leg room in a truck of this size. It only takes another inch or two so your knees aren't jammed up against the front seat. The base price of the Canyon in 4WD crew cab is around $38,000. A vehicle of that price and that size should set 4 or 5 comfortably. If the back seat is too small (again), I will lose my mind.

I looked at some rear seat leg room specs:

Malibu: 36.8 inches
Impala: 39.8 inches
Equinox: 39.9 inches
Silverado Crew: 40.9 inches

Colorado Crew: 35.8 inches

How in the world could GM do this? Less leg room than a Malibu? I hoped to use this for long family road trips but I don't see forking over this kind of money for a back seat of this size. This is a basic requirement: enough room to ride comfortably. It has 4 doors so I expect room for 4. The crew cab with short bed is 212.6 inches long. How could they not find another 2-3 inches of leg room??????

I'm afraid this was intentional. My only explanation is that they intentionally made the Malibu back seat cramped to try and force families to buy the Impala (upsell) and have now done the same thing with the Colorado.

Extremely disappointing.

Thought I would put a few more in here for comparison:

Malibu: 36.8 inches
Impala: 39.8 inches
Equinox: 39.9 inches
Silverado Crew: 40.9 inches

Colorado Crew: 35.8 inches
Colorado Xtd: 28.6 inches

Tacoma Crew: 32.6 inches
Tacoma XTD: 28.2 inches

Overall length of Tacoma 208.1 inches versus 212.6 for Colorado.

I guess the Tacoma is not a solution to your dilemma.

And for what it's worth the Silverado double cab rear leg room is 34.63

I don't believe that you can read anything into those dimensions. You need to actually sit in the actual trucks, with your family if neccessary. My 15 year old and my 2 year old fit fine in the rear of my '09 Canyon, so anything bigger will be a notable improvement for everyone.

Lastly I'll say that kids need a little discomfort in their lives these days, spoiled things. A 12 year old doesn't need reclining rear seats for gosh sakes.

I spend 95% of my time by myself in my truck, maybe 4% with 1 other person, and maybe with a new truck 1% of the time with all four of us at the same time. So I'm going to buy the truck that works best 95% of the time not the 1% of the time.

I do wish these seat manufacturers could figure out how to build the seats much thinner while maintaining comfort and safety The interior space problems could be instantly solved by having seats that were 1-2" thick instead of 9" thick every which way.

Oh absolutely I agree they can (fit), but even with the Avalanche at 39.1 inches of rear leg room, it felt cramped in that a 7-8 year old were constantly putting their feet on the back of the seats. The F-150 obviously solved that with 43.5 inches of rear leg room, so going completely backwards to 35.8 at least puts it in a comparison perspective aka it's going to be even more cramped. Granted it's not quite IS350 cramped so while I agree that we'll have to sit in it, it's a lot smaller than I would have expected regardless as (mentioned by a poster above) they're positioning this for lifestyle/families.

Hmmm that looks somewhat cramped to what I thought the rear seat room would be...

I currently have a Regular Cab S-10. The Mrs. ideally would like for me to jump up to an extended cab Silverado/Sierra but I want a midsized for many reasons. Whenever I talk about the idea of a new truck (which is often) she defends the crew cab short bed, I don't want a 5' bed and test drove a long bed CC Tacoma which I thought was way to long.

After seeing these pictures I might be able to sway her into the idea of an extended cab Colorado/Canyon. No matter how it goes the my ultimate decision will be once I can test drive them.

My brother in law is really looking forward to the 6 ft bed crewcab, hates that 5 ft bed. Hasn't asked to borrow my truck before but I bet he's thought about it. I cringe thinking about that because his truck looks like street peeps have been renting it as living space. Not that mine looks like I have a maid service comes in every week, bot nothing like his, LOL. Then his son (13 yrs old and not too sharp), always makes the comment that his dad's truck is bigger than mine, and I always get peeved and tell him "NO, your dad's truck is bigger INSIDE, mine has a larger box, SEE???" I think he is doing it just to get me going at this point, but he never really seems to "get it".
