Check your downpipe mounting bolts!

Check your catalytic canister mounting bolts (the can right under the turbo that bolts to the block), today I found one was falling out and the other was not very tight. I was changing the oil and just happened to look up and see it. Put them back with some permanent locktite. That makes me wonder what else is not put together well on this truck.. 2017, just turned 18k miles. Has anyone else had this?

Ummm the dpf is nowhere near the oil drain. So me thinks what you think is the dpf is not the dpf???

Additionally, while i haven’t been under there for a while, i’m pretty sure there are no cast parts or mounts near the dpf, so me thinks youre talking about the Cat in the down pipe near the engine block mount????

Mind taking a pic from farther away so this location can be clarified for others? :smile2:

Yikes! That sounds like a potential fire hazard if nothing else. When you watch the assembly line videos on youtube, it seems they often don't give the wrench a moment to hit the final torque value, which makes me wonder how many of these types of issues are related to bad workmanship vs. bad design?

I attached a full res picture, this is as far back as I can get without a lift. I'm laying on my back behind the passenger side front wheel. The loose bots are circled in red. The bottom of the canister is just under the bolts in the picture, it's difficult to tell from the picture but the bolts are holding the canister bracket.). The barcode sticker is on the drive shaft tube for the front passenger side wheel. The bolts are up there, really difficult to reach. You pretty much have to lay on your back behind the front wheel looking strait up, just behind the front drive shaft.

So this is my first post on the forum and I don't even have my truck any more but I still check out the forum occasionally and this thread brought back bad memories of bolts falling out on my 2018 ZR2 diesel. Last September I went to start my truck and when I put it in reverse the truck had a terrible vibration. When I got to my shop I put the truck on the lift and started looking for the cause. To my surprise I found two of the engine mount bracket bolts on the left side of the engine had fallen out and one of them had gotten wedged between the oil pan and the front differential which was the cause of the vibration. There are only 3 bolts attaching the engine mount bracket to the engine block so only one bolt was left supporting the left side of the engine. Had that one bolt not gotten wedged between the oil pan and differential and caused the vibration I would never have known about the problem until the whole motor mount bracket just fell off. These bolts are a bitch to get to so I had a really bad feeling about the dealer getting them back in. My fears were well founded as my experience at the dealer was terrible. While they were trying to get the bolts back in they must of used a tranny jack to support the engine/transmission and ended up putting a nice dent in my transmission oil pan. I just about lost my cool when I told the service writer that he should be contacting General Motors over such a serious problem as engine mount bolts falling out and he said he wouldn't but that I could. I really liked my ZR2 but after this experience I lost confidence in the truck and my dealer so I sold the truck. I attached a photo of one of the missing bolts. The other one is in such a bad location you can't ever see it as it's hidden by other stuff.

I have a 2019 GMC Canyon with the 2.8l BabyMax. My Check Engine light came on this morning with the warning - "Reduced Engine Power". 56,000 miles, still on Warranty.
Took it to the dealership - they diagnosed and said it was not covered under warranty. The reason was - there has been a lot of catalytic converter theft - Looking at the comments here, seems this should be a TSB? Dealer charging me $1080 to fix. I'm mildly upset...
