Planning on it - thinking a machined finish KMC wheel right now...something with an old school center cap. Debating beadlock.

 

While you are at it, see if you can find wheel flares for the 23-24 models. A lot of companies advertise them but they will not fit the later models.

 

So not specifically Colorado related, but in addition to working on the R&D for the Colorado we have also been working on some more mounts and accessories. Thought you guys might like to see what else we're cooking up.

Last week we finally knocked our heads together to come up with a traction board mounting solution. The Maxtrax ones are great but we wanted something a little more universal for folks who might use other brands or need other mounting options. While, originally designed to work the best with our Bulkhead Accessory Rail we made sure that it would really work on anything.

 

I like it, however, I'll probably never buy it. I've gotten to the point where crawling into the back of my bed to get a bit of kit has become a non-starter.

Nice! Curious...what filament will you be using? Or is that just for prototyping?

 

This is just for prototyping - but anything from PLA to carbon fiber. It just depends on how we're using/testing the product. The finished product will be injection molded.

 

Nice! Where in CT are you guys? I may have to pop on in when I am up visiting my brother! Those traction board mounts are sweet - I was thinking of trying to find some to mount mini boards on the sports bar/sail of my Desert Boss.

Honestly, didn't feel like spending the time trying to hunt one down near us and this does what we need it to. We also like modifying so we didn't want to overspend on a truck that we were going to take apart to achieve the look we're going for.

 

Here's the latest in development at BuiltRight. Hoping once we get some of these smaller projects wrapped up to move into Colorado development.

Love that your going to try to do something under the seat. Thats one thing that I've thought could have been done different/better. Very interested to see what you come up with.

 

2. KMC Technic Gets my vote, solid black is getting old in my book, for us Canadians, it screams winter rims.

 

I'm leaning towards the Technics too, but we have Methods on other vehicles so I am sort of partial to them. I'm hoping to sell the rest of the team on the Technics.

 

I know it won't be on the top of your list since you have a Z71, but would love to see a bumper step. The ZR2 do not have it already built in as the Z71.
Maybe check out Yettie's truck if he drops by for similar mounting points at the corners.

I carry a step stool, I'm not proud, I know when I try to climb over the tailgate when it's down I look like an accident waiting to happen.

 

Needs more tire sidewall than that, IMO.

 

Get rid of the "Disco Johnny" tires, and don't do a lift. Anytime I see someone that throws a lift on and/or installs the low sidewall tires I just ignore them like I do every other mall crawler.

Then install a decent brash guard, skid plates and maybe the side scratch protection film

Alright guys! This morning was eventful! We have some 1st draft prototype MOLLE Bedside Racks for the Colorado. Toying with a couple different mounting ideas, but the driver's side is up. 3D printing different mounting brackets as we speak. The bed's body panel is interesting. The panel is straight with the factory mounting locations, but it appears crooked with the top of the bed's body panel so we're looking to see about fixing the aesthetics of that. Since these are just prototypes, it’s raw steel. I can't wait to see how they look painted with some brand tags on them. We might toy with some cut outs to add bed lighting - let me know what you think about that!
EDIT - to clarify this will be a NO DRILL installation. We’re using factory mounting positions.

Those look great! Will they be drill free installation like the Putco? What price point are you guys looking at for those? It would be cool to be able to install bed lights as well - but not 100% necessary. What will be necessary is an opening on the passenger's side for the 110 outlet.

BTW: I know you are looking for a bed liner . . . seeing your padding there, you may really want to consider the bed rug - its what I have in Feenix and will eliminate the need to throw that pad in and out of the bed every time you get up in there to check something.

 

These will be a no drill installation. Don’t have a price quote yet but will likely in the next couple of weeks. The passengers side will have a cut out for the outlet there. Hoping to see those test fit tomorrow

 

Looks good, I've never used panels in the bed ... yet. looks like there is still 4 ft. plus of clearance for hauling sheet good.

My two cents, if you use cut outs or similar for lighting, I'd recommend making it at least compatible if not designed for the OEM bed light solution.

 

Yeah that’s the plan. Gonna toy with a couple ideas. Not sure any will make it to production but definitely gonna prototype some options.

 

I'm assuming your no drill option is by using the blanks for the anchor hooks. Will there be some adapter to regain these anchor points ?

 

The bracket uses the anchor point. You can easily hook straps and gear to the installed MOLLE panels through either the 1/4” slots or the MOLLE cut out.
