The issue is brake fluid absorbed moisture driving or sitting. This was not a major issue in past vehicles. It may have rusted a line out and messed up a single piston caliper. Today it can jack up anti lock system and expensive multi piston calipers etc. .

No few people do the flush and yes get away with it. But the MFG is going to list it so if you do have an issue you were duly warned.

Brakes are not the basic systems we used to have years ago and that is why people have so many issues as it is not the same game.

Color of fluid is not anything. Use test strips to measure moisture content.

I knew the FWD cars used a cross braking but I thought the new trucks were still front rear.

They crossed the FWD cars as with out RWS the rear brakes will not stop you well.
