Black Emblems

PlastDip is a cheaper, easy and flexible way to turn the chrome black. That can be done while the emblems are still on the vehicle. If however you’re looking to purchase black ones, it’ll be more expensive but replacing them is fairly straightforward as mentioned. The one of the grill can be removed by removing the screws along the top of the grill. It will bend out far enough to get your hand and forearm in there to push the tabs out. It just pops back in.

Mechanic at the Chevy dealer did mine by taking a plastic prybar and popping the front Bowtie out. Took less than 1 second and took nothing apart. Of course he knew precisely where to pry. There are Youtubes on how to do all the badges and emblems on the truck but I did not see one with the plastic pry bar. The back emblem was on crooked from the factory. They were fixing it and I asked if I could pay the difference and get the black emblems. They gave them to me ... free with every $42,000 purchase.

these are cool--I've used them and they are different vs. the all black look.
How durable would that vinyl overlay be? i cant imagine it surviving more than a few washes....
Thank you for this post.
This is the way I went to overlay my chrome 'Colorado' lettering with a matte black decal overlay. I love them and so do the people I've asked about the look. The customer service at TVDvinyldecals is fantastic. I have an ongoing email string with at salesman there as I want them to make a ZR2 decal overlay for my grill emblem. To me ... the emblem blends in the with the grill and I wanted some contrasting color options. If you're a ZR2 owner and want some emblem overlay options please write to them at
Fantastic folks with a really great product and inexpensive enough to experiment with. They get enough requests and they will add it to their product line. Bet the Z71 folks can make a request too.
Extremely easy to apply. The tailgate emblem comes with both the V6 and LT overlay.

I'll let you know. I live in Central Florida and we all know how hot it is here not to mention the saw grass and sand that I'll be spraying on them. I can say this ... they give you a practice letter. It was extremely tough to remove. The website says a 7 year durability rating. Time will tell.

I talked to the salesman about your durability concern. He said:
"It may be worth mentioning that we back our decals with a lifetime warranty against peeling, cracking, and shrinking for as long as you own your truck. And we do have the inlay for the “Z” in the Z71, but haven’t listed it yet".

Thought I'd let you know.
