Battery voltage issues

I recently replaced the original manufacturer battery in my 2021 Colorado Z71. Since replacing it, my battery voltage display swings wildly between 12.5 and 13.9. I had the Chevy dealer check the battery, alternator and voltage regulator and all checks out good. This didn’t happen prior to installing the new battery. Anyone have an idea what is going on?

That's perfectly normal and how the smart charging system works in these trucks. Seeing voltage ranging from roughly 12.2v up to 15v is expected.

Thanks for your prompt reply! Much appreciated. I’m glad to hear that is normal. What’s curious is that this never happened with my original battery. I regularly scroll through the various diagnostics and can say pretty surely that while driving it was typically pegged at 14.2 to 14.4. I guess I’ll just stop checking it since everything seems to working properly. 😜

You might consider using a battery charger/maintainer. I have a Noco Genius 1 ($30) and it keeps the battery fully charged at 12.5V.

My original AC/Delco battery died 1.5 years after I bought the truck. The dealer replaced it and that battery lasted about 3 years. The charger/maintainer might have helped. I now have an EverStart battery (Walmart).
