Any input on a muffler delete?

I'm considering somewhat straight-piping my truck by deleting my muffler altogether. If anyone has done this and can give me any insight as to how it sounds (besides obnoxiously loud), and if it actually sounds decent, I'd appreciate it. I've viewed a few sound clips, and none are really all that clear, so one's input from personal experience wouldn't hurt. Also, if anyone has any ideas on hp gains, proven hp gains, or any other positive/negative effects on the truck's performance, feel free to let me know.

Hope to get some responses, and thanks in advance.

If anything you'll probably lose torque, all the power that would be there in the low end if you had a muffler would be moved up into a higher RPM range. Plus it'll sound like a mob of angry bugs.

I drove down the road and back with no muffler after I cut it out before I bolted the MBRP in...was very weak off the line and sounded so ricey and high pitched. Much deeper sound with the MBRP, and much better off the line...didn't feel any slower with the MBRP muffler in the high rpms either. In essence, it is better in every single way with the MBRP muffler than it was no muffler.

Appreciate the info about losing low-end torque. Figured I'd lose some, but not too much, or as much as you've seemed to have lost when you had no muffler.

I'd recommend MBRP...awesome performance gains, probably IMO the best sounding system (not counting Borla which costs 3 times as much for a catback)...mine cost me $450 CDN shipped to my door and it's made of T-409 stainless with a lifetime warranty...it'd be a bit cheaper in USD. Go to http://www.mbrp.com and phone them...talk to Steve...he'll hook you up. You can see it in this pic. Sorry the pic is so huge...it's the best one I have of it...it's a tad dirty lol.

MBRP dyno'd a 16.7 HP and 15.2 lb/ft increase at the wheels over the stock exhaust on a 3.7L I5. It would be a little lower on a 3.5L but not much.

I've noticed no loss in low-end in the two hours that I have driven around since I straight-piped the truck this afternoon. :clueless

Negative bro. My butt dyno doesn't exaggerate the facts, and doesn't lie all too often. In fact, it has yet to be put on recall.
