Android Voice Contacts Not Recognized

2016 Canyon. It has worked fine since I bought it new, then a few days ago when I push the voice button and say "Call Bob on mobile", the truck lady says something like "say the name of the contact you want to call" but even if I repeat the name it doesn't recognize (and sometimes does weird stuff like dial my voicemail or redial)...
I tried deleting the phone and re-pairing the bluetooth. The phone works with another car. I looked at all the phone permissions, but don't see anything that could cause this. I can see the contacts when accessing through the in-dash screen. I haven't done anything to the truck software. Any suggestions?
What android are you using? After i plugged my newly updated to android 12 phone in and connected it to android auto i had 2 or 3 permissions i had to answer. This wasnt there for me when i was on 11 but now it normally just connects right away. I believe they were under quick device connect in the settings

Sorry that didnt work. I've been struggling even getting android auto to work on my oneplus 7 on android 11, let alone having the features to work, but only in this truck. I actually was looking for the thread I posted a long time ago about my issues to say that android 12 or an OTA update on my truck fixed it but couldnt find the thread but saw yours.
