Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon banner

I’m in my first domestic vehicle in about 25 years. I looked at the TRD Pro, Off Road, ZR2, and Ranger Tremor. I did day long; yes, all day long, test drives of each truck. Being an Engineer, I analyze EVERYTHING to death. I decided on a ZR2 and couldn’t be happier.
Spend some time on other truck forums; brand/model specific. You’ll see that the Tacoma is FAR from what Toyota trucks used to be; many owners have issues. Same with the Ranger.
This is a great place to learn about the Colorado/Canyon. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. Also, feel free to send a PM if you prefer as well.
Cheers!!

Yeah can't stress this enough. Toyota is so cult like, there are some really toxic people who swear by the brand and their product enough that if they do switch in to something like a GM and a minor issue arises it's the end of the world and they immediately jump back to Toyota despite the glaring build quality issues, anemic powertrains, and cheap cramped interiors.
I’ve seen posts in a Tacoma Facebook group in which a guy said his parents had an HHR that kept blowing taillights. That was enough for him to decry anything made by GM as a piece of crap. Ok…. Tacoma owners seem to have such blinders on that literally anything other than a Tacoma is pure junk. They’d buy a refrigerator box with wheels on it as long as it said Tacoma on it.

Tacomas are not built in Japan but in Mexico. For some reason people equate reliability of Japanese brands as being built in Japan. I understand why with the work ethic of Japanese workers being well known. My 2022 Colorado is too new to comment on reliability but I do know that with robotics and modern assembly lines there is really no difference in how these trucks are built from 1 mfg to another. Even engineering has no secrets between companies. Find one that fits your budget and likes and go for it.
Well said. And it's not like companies don't buy each others trucks, tear them apart to compare them to theirs, and see what can be done to improve their own trucks.
