2024 Colorado Z71 bought new in June 2024. I had past issues with the blank screens (both), engine light coming on within a month of purchase, turn signal, front camera for adaptive cruise, etc.

Was towed to dealer on 10/21/2024 for it being totally dead. They switched out the battery. On July 5, 2025, truck was dead again. Towed to dealer. They suspected something was draining the battery. They replaced the ABS module, but couldn't program it since it also needed a new wheel sensor, which was out of stock EVERYWHERE. Didn't get the truck back until Aug 28, 2025. Yesterday AM, when to start my truck to go to work, and it clicked then nothing. Had it towed AGAIN back to dealer. Luckily all 3 times were in my driveway. I had an open case for the 2nd tow, which is still open.

I have NOT installed any 3rd-party equipment on this truck (I'm not that technical when it comes to that stuff) so it is all stock.

I am beyond frustrated with this POS! I cannot trust going anywhere with this, let alone taking my family. Anyone have similar issues? GM doesn't care, and all I get is 'We are sorry. We understand your frustration, blah blah blah'. No action, only excuses. Love making payments on something that is in the shop all the time. I have never had to take my wifes' 2015 Nissan Rogue in for issues, just regular servicing (oil, tire rotation, etc).

Anyone have thoughts on this situation. I am so beyond frustrated and crickets from both dealer and GM.

Thanks,
Rob

GM Resolution called me a bit ago. I filed a BBB complaint and the lady was following up with it. She called me earlier and left me a voicemail (I was busy), and when I called back, she told me my case worker would call. About 5 minutes later, my case worker called and during the time she left me VM until she called me the 2nd time, she was reading the BBB complaint and all the repair orders. She went ahead and submitted it for a buy back. While on the phone, she said 'wait...I just got a notification that the buy back was approved' and told me the 2 options. I should get a settlement letter from BBB and go from there. I don't know what all this really entails, but they did speak to the dealership, and are trying to make this right.

I'll update as soon as I hear anything. FINALLY someone at GM listened.

That is progress
Hopefully whatever 2 options they offer at least will work out for you

Does the "lemon" law apply? Tell them you want a new one, and they can keep that one

I had the same problem with my ’23 AT4 Canyon. After numerous trips to the dealership, they finally fixed it by updating the infotainment system (USB update to accept the new file). They also found a tracking device that the dealership installed when I bought it. It was also causing a parasitic load close to the battery limit. No more problems…

I sold my 2024 GMC Canyon at4 after 9 months and 7000 miles at a $14,000 loss. It had none of the problems your truck is having. I'm sorry to hear about your issues. It drove and rode like a three-quarter ton truck. I didn't like the oil and transmission fluid running around 212 Degrees when cruising down a freeway. Plus it would not get better than 23 mpg hwy. My 2015 Colorado Crew Cab Lt V6 4x4, got 27 to 28 hwy mpg and at 145,000 it's still getting 26+. So I'm still driving the old one. I'm thinking of trying the Nissan Frontier again.

Was it a bad update? There was a major update last year July 2024 I went for my first year inspection since it was free at the dealership They said there’s major updates that will take 2.5hrs to install. I sat there for more than four hours . They said there’s major updates was an error mid way through the first attempt and had to install again. Then I got a phone call within a week of the updates being installed that the updates they installed were found to be corrupted. I had to go back and sit for 2.5 more hours for the “safe” updates to be installed.

Charging TIP:
If your battery is dead and won’t start your truck, you can jump start it with another battery or portable jump starter.
Connect to dead battery and do not start it until you have heard all of the relays reset (about 5-7 seconds). Once they have reset the dash display will indicate that you are ready to start.
Trying to start your truck before the reset can cause all kinds of issues like; loss of power steering and brakes, CEL, limited speed of 42 mph…

It sounds like you are having the same issues I did with my 2015 Z71 Colorado. I went back and forth between the dealer and the auto shop that I trust going to. They ended up changing a brand new battery out three times in a row. No one can find the problem anywhere. So I decided to traded out for a 2024 Chevy Colorado Z71 with a Blue Glacier color and I bought mine and June or July of 2024. I love this truck and I'm hoping to have it for a long time. Some guy bought my 2015 Colorado and said that he has had no issues with it whatsoever and he had had it for like 6 months already. So I don't get it either. I agree with some of the other comments that you should try to trade it in. Too bad they just can't give you another one of the same year and call it even.

I also had opened a case with GM but at the end it was denied. They said that there was a fix coming and that I needed to take it back to the dealer. I tried amother dealer with the same results until I found a different dealer (luckily I have 3 within a 1/2 hr) that new what they were doing.
No problems since and I really like the truck; AT4 Canyon Volcanic Red. Average 19.6 mpg with best trip mileage at 32.8 mpg!

Yes,
My battery went totally dead three times. The battery was replaced after the first time, then it happened two more times. The first itme I had chevy roadside come to my home where they jump started it. The two other times I jumped it myself. After the battery goes dead I lost my brakes. The truck will only go around 40 miles an hour until it resets itself. My dealer didn't even know what was wrong. After rerading about this issue on this and other forums, I think it is an software update issue. Maybe mention this to the dealer. Also taking it back in for the forward collision detection system for the third time. Another very annoying thing is the shitty rear leaf springs thet creak and groan.
This is only my second new vehicle in my life ( I am 62 ) . Makes me want to cry.
You would think that the dealership would have some competent techs, but it is obvious they do not.
I love the looks, but chome don't get you home!

@BlueZedR2. Mopars may not always be the most sophisticated but they are beast when built right. On My 67 Barracuda with the small block you had to wrap the headers around the starter - which cooked them once a year and then disassemble the whole thing to replace it - that’s why I dumped the small block and put in a 440 - way more fun!

Here are some pix of my Mopar toys… funny thing is my “not street legal” Cuda dials in at 600 HP while my street legal Challenger is nearly 800. So there is some magic to modern tech 😇

The flying cheesegrater! Nice! Well, that's the power of forced induction for you. Cool that they sell 'Cuda grills and gills for the Challengers. I remember seeing some modern Camaros done up as '68 Firebirds, and really liked them.

Getting that giant starter changed out on my 383 Charger was an absolute nightmare. By the time I got it all put back together and fresh coolant back in it was pretty much an all day job. My buddy built the 383, and it was running probably 425-450hp. It was straight and rust free (CA desert car) but needed a lot of work (tranny, rear diff, paint, interior), but I still loved that car. Eventually put a reverse manual valvebody 727 race tranny and 8" posi in it (LOVED them) but had to sell it right after that because I had to place to park or store it. wish I hadn't....ah well.

had same problem with 2023 z71 at 10k miles. was told the remote updates were causing the battery to drain. didnt have car from September to February. I was relentless with GM. Don't bother trying to sue them since they have many ongoing cases. Thankfully my dealer stood up for me and got GM to take back the truck and put me in a new one which the new one's dash kept going black. I traded in for a 2024 Boss with alot less electronics and turned off the automatic updates and only have updated when i bring for service. this truck has been great!.. BE RELENTLESS WITH GM AND YOUR DEALER! GOOD LUCK!

I had a similar problem when i bought a 2024 Nissan frontier Pro 2-wheel drive. Left me stranded five times and towed three times. The dealer said I was manipulating the computer and raised her voice at my wife. I promptly traded it in at a GMC dealer for a canyon, on day 29. It had 330 miles on it. It went to auction and over a year now and i still get messages on my phone about the same data link errors it had then. Also tells me when being towed, six times now since I dumped it.
