2023 Colorado's First OTA Update

I purchased my Traill Boss in August of 2023, and since then I have never received an OTA update. I started making it a habit to schedule a service appointment once a year just so the software can be checked and updated as needed. This was the only way I could get everything up-to-date. I know others in this forum have had the same experience as me with their 2023's, so hopefully this will provide some hope for you all.

I thought my truck was cursed and not worthy of updates, but yesterday after pulling into my garage it notified me update "N25-165AN" was ready to be installed. I was honestly excited (the curse has been lifted!!), but quickly disappointed when I returned to the vehicle 20min later just to find out the update failed. Ugh... I'll try again tomorrow and also scheduled a service appointment so they can update any software.

Like others have mentioned in other threads, maybe the power cube needed more juice. So I plugged in my Noco 5A charger and let it charge for a few hours. I tried again later this afternoon and it completed successfully!

I have seen other threads where others mentioned they have received update N25- F17???, so I assume more are on their way?? Probably not though, and I am still going to follow through with my service appointment anyways.

If you tap that update it will give more information on what it was about.
Sadly, these things don't update like phones.
My last update was 6 months later than someone else's on the same update.

Here's what I envision GM's update server to look like.

The update description was along the lines of "improvements to the software update and diagnostic process". I didn't notice any changes in the infotainment or vehicle behavior.

I did the module update last year, and no OTA before nor after it.
Did a 2nd injector update / recall last month at dealer, only because the dealer texted me on it. It never appeared in my app nor web page beforehand, does not show up anywhere as completed after.
I do have updates set to off, but I manually check for updates manually on the truck every month+ or so.

It appears you have an update listed on as being installed on october 04, 2024. So it looks like your second update.

So what am I doing wrong? Mine is also a '23 and I have never had an OTA. Last update was at the dealer in March when I had my first oil change and there was a recall. I am not due for another oil change for quite some time - I don't drive that much. I just checked the Chevy App (which I almost never use) and it says "Everything is good".

Hooked the truck up to my phone's hotspot just now to make sure it had access to the internet. Checked and says software is up-to-date and I get no messages that come up. Is there another place I should be looking for updates or should they be presenting themselves to you when you start up the truck?

I am not having electrical glitches or anything like that, so not interested in rocking the boat.

I think it HAS been updating, it's just that you didn't know about it, so, that's actually good....as long as it doesn't kill your battery looking for updates.

That is weird. I bought my 2024 in March of 2025 and have had several.
I think they pop up when I am with-in WiFi distance of my home Wifi and place the truck in park.
They take me about maybe 5 to 10 min.
I do not always do them every time, I will let it go weeks without doing them based on how much time I have.

I am 90% confident there is known issue that GM tried to fix through the Multi module recall but we're unsuccessful and won't admit it. So rather than issuing a recall to have a module replaced, they pretty much gave up on us because they can manually update them at the service centers. They obviously fixed it for the 2024+ but left us behind. Less expensive that way.

Neither the app nor web portal match the status of updates on my display. At the dealership now regarding software and security update error messages and transmission slippage (happened once last year). Advisor said a recall was incomplete for injector programming. Why no mail, email text msg, phone call, etc? The app and web portal are incompetent. I told advisor that I have auto-download OTA shut off; I check manually. She told me even though I can manually check, they will not download (if available) unless those toggles are switched on. Sh swore to me that dead battery issue has finally been fixed. TBD

I have a similar one made by NOCO. Amazing what those little things can do.

Yep except the Noco one costs $80 instead of $200😁👌

For the first time in 2+ years, I got a notification for the updated when I pulled in to my garage. I told it to proceed and sat in the truck and watched. It when through the 1st two steps, the showed a red X and said update not installed. :(

However, when I go to the update screen it now shows an update under previous updates, so I'm not sure the truck even knows if it installed or not.

I notice no UI changes though, still on the old android 11. No idea if installed or now. I currently have a battery charger on it in case that was the issue, and will try to get it to check again later. Not holding my breath though.

For anyone that has had any recent OTA updates. What is the latest update and do you have any newer features? Alexa, Netflix, etc. I don't have alexa on mine or netflix. For those that don't know, netflix is available to download at least on the 24/25 models.

My local dealership told me those features likely won't be available on the 23 models, which I think is a lie.

I got Alexa on my 23 last year after the m-module update.. another app I don't use.
The multi module update changed quite a few things for me in the icons and a few menus.. like removing the quick start boot option (can't remember the real name). Added the 3 box icon fixed on the right.

I just got my truck back from the dealership. Not actually sure what all was updated but the following line items were listed on the work order

  • Performed vehicle wide update - WC # YPPZ292700050
  • Radio version checked and up to date
  • Fuel injector recall

I was never aware that there was an injector recall. I had an injector recall performed in early 2024, so I guess there is another one?

They only visual change I see now is the vehicle distance indicator on the DIC. I preferred the old green one displayed at the top.

There were 2 different injector recalls. One that was a reprogram and one that was a parts change out

I took my 2023 AT4X to the dealership last week to have the injector flow rate update done. When I was there, I made sure I asked if there were any other updates and if so, go ahead and complete them.

I got home and the next day, I get the notice on my screen that N25-F165AN is ready. Cool! I did it and I don't see any difference so far...

For some reason, I thought there were 2 update areas, one for the truck updates and one for android.
Never saw anything concerning android on the main update screen, but I remember an android setting menu somewhere.
I'm on 12 and the information for it is under system I think

I saw this thread and got really excited, but at the same time I also thought well my 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will never get an over the air update. 2+ years into ownership and never even hinted at trying to download one.
Well I'm SUPER HAPPY to say that as I pulled into my driveway today (9/3/2025) and placed my truck into park I nearly dropped my phone trying to take a picture of the screen as it said there was an update waiting to be installed!!!! I hit the "install" button and about 5-ish minutes later the update installed successfully. I'm not sure what's new, but I'm just over the moon that my truck actually got an over the air update!

Just curious ... did you ever do the multi-module update at the dealer prior to getting this OTA update?
