Just had my 2020 ZR2 inspected, and the left rear shock is leaking a bit, with only 17,000 miles on it, never off road or abused. It sits in my garage most of the time. I was pricing a GM replacement shock, and I almost had a seizure! Please, can any of you guys tell me if there is an alternate replacement, maybe from one of the lift kit companies, that is cheaper than $600 each? The manufacture and a part number would be great and much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys, oh, and gals!

looks like this is the week for ZR2 shocks to go bad, as there are 2 other threads on this.
Level Up is going to rebuild them for 500 bucks or so for the pair but they have not started yet
I know Rock Auto is a little over 600 each for the rears
here is some aftermarket sets that are not going to make you happy

Wow, thanks for the info Hunter62. I had no idea how expensive these shocks are. My shock is weeping a little bit, not too bad yet. I'm still wondering maybe if one of the lift kit companies that make like a 3" kit for a regular Colorado may offer an alternative, less expensive option. Anyway, I guess I have some homework to do in the meantime. Thanks again for your response and the link, you have been very helpful for me. Have a great day!

mine blew out while sitting in the garage at about 50,000 miles

I sold the good one to someone on here for the shipping charge...

maybe check faceplant as some one may have a good one

84976915 Part# GM direct replacement, $582.95 on Amazon guys and gals. Best price I could find. However, i just got off the phone with American Truck Parts and I was told the Rough Country Monotube M1 rear shocks for 0 to2 inch lift are a fitment. Item #CY9492. $169.95 for a pair. They are supposedly for all Colorado models including the ZR2. If they do not fit you can send them back for a refund within 30 days. I do no off-roading and my truck is in immaculate condition. If you aren't doing serious off-roading, I just thought I would share this info for my ZR2 fans as a less expensive alternative. I really appreciate each and everyone of your responses to my thread.
