2017 cc z71, 12,783 miles, built in May 17, stock. Mine stays in too high of a gear when coming out of turns or if you don't mash the pedal when wanting to come out of a low speed cruise. It has a loud vibration that sounds like a dust shield rattling coming from the passenger side floorboard/tunnel. It also sometimes hesitates to find the gear between 1st and 2nd, revs high then slams into the right gear. I've learned to drive the truck to prevent it from happening and it's manageable when it does happen. Thanks to post like these I've come to accept this is just a characteristic of the truck and know it can be fixed with a fluid flush and change if It starts getting on my nerves too much but for now it's ok.

I would suggest getting it in to your dealer as soon as you can so they can properly diagnose the issue and do the work under warranty. The hard shift from 1-2 and 2-1 is extra wear on your transmission, drive line, rear differential, etc. Not a good thing and will just shorten the life of those parts.

I had the transmission fluid triple flush done on my 2017 Colorado crew cab Z71 last week and have only driven it a few miles, but I have not had the torque converter clutch vibration so far. The hard shift issue is still happening though. I'll get them to work on that once I know the TCC issue is fixed.

If the build date is on the upper right corner of the silver sticker, then mines 12/16. 13 months since I brought it home (Feb 11 purchase) and 7300 miles. I almost always drive easy for gas mileage, and have not noticed any transmission issues other than the cold start/immediate drive 1-2 clunk. Otherwise, it's the best transmission I've owned (around 50 vehicles in almost 40 years). Very smooth and responsive. But now I'll be thinking about this and looking for it.

Purchased my 2017 Canyon CCLB All Terrain in December 2017. We had a very cold January in NY and the hard downshift was apparent from day 1. I bought my truck out-of-state so I made an appointment at the dealership closest to my house. Their techs couldn't replicate the problem, but the day they had it, we weren't experiencing the same very cold nights.

Brought it another dealer, since the problem was still there and the performed the "fast learn" procedure on the clutches. No help really. I brought it back in today after driving it for about 10 days since I am now also feeling the "shudder" under light acceleration.

Service advisor quickly located the TSB and they will be performing the triple flush/fill procedure tomorrow. I have less than 1800 miles on my truck. I'm really hoping the flush/fill takes care of it.

2018, ZR2 I have rumble strips around 50-53. I thought it was the road then noticed it happens on all sorts of different surfaces and then found this post. I have ~1,700 miles, purchased truck in November.

Finally got to drive on the interstate, and my wife and I both noticed it, so mine is doing it for sure too.:frown2:

Could someone describe?

I have a '17 8 speed 3.6 Crew cab 4x4. The tranny is funny at times but usually from 1-2 or 2-3, tyically when on very light throttle it either shudders or slips. But not consistently.

‘18 2400 miles.
Not so much of a shutter, more of a clunk when releasing the brake and touching the pedal to accelerate.

Similar issue when braking to nearly a full stop as the trans comes down into 1st gear.

Both issues are intermittent and temps haven’t seemed to be a contributing factor.

Just ordered the PC. Hopefully this fixes or helps that issue.
Yeah, this.
Slight downgrade to a stop sign, truck is cold. When pulling away I get a slight clunk - like a lite version of a bad u-joint from your misspent youth. (Y'know from doing 'neutral drops'...) This clunk is barely noticeable and is accompanied by a millisecond's worth of hesitation. I figured it was due to cold trannie but now I guess I'll watch more closely.
I have only 500 miles on a ZR2.

I now have this on a 17 Canyon with 6k miles. Didn't notice the shudder during the winter when temps were <30 degrees, but now I'm noticing it quite frequently in 40-60 degree weather. I too have the hard "clunk" in low gear, 1-2 and 2-1 usually, and always when shifting from Park to reverse each morning after it has been parked all night.

Do we think the shudder is "bad" for the TCC/Tranny, or just a nuisance? My warranty is void due to branded title so at this point in time I'm not interested in spending >$500 to pay a dealer to flush the fluid 3 times.

Have this exact thing as well but with the Colorado but I've noticed it all year. Seems like a lot of us are having the same clunk. When my wife is in the truck she looks at me like "WTF" is wrong with your truck. Getting close to taking it to the dealership but the one in town is so slow and awful I may need to take it out of town. Do you guys happen to have the TSB numbers that are associated with this issue so I can bring it up to the dealer. Really annoying stuff.

Edit: I see this one: #16NA019, THIS TECHNICAL BULLETIN PROVIDES THE PROCEDURES TO COMPLETE A TRANSSMISSION ADAPTIVE LEARN ON ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VEHICLES AND TRANSMISSIONS BASED ON RPO OPTIONS TO CORRECT A CONDITION OF HARSH SHIFTS ON HARD ACCELLERATIONS.

That is similar but its not happening on hard accelerations, its happening on all accelerations, and letting off the gas, and usually at random.

Took mine into the dealer today (2017 Canyon Denali) - ~7800 miles -- for an oil change, a door rattle issue (2nd request) and the shudder/rumble issue. Shudder started about 2,000 miles ago, and has noticeably become evident the more I drive it...probably since I know it is there :)

Dealer followed the TSB -- flushing 3 times, etc -- so we will see if it helps. I think they also reprogrammed the transmission, as it seems to be "different' on the way home.
Now if I could actually get them to fix the door rattle :) - 2nd time it has come back as no issue found...sigh.

Thank you

Did they put trans reprogramming on the paperwork? That takes time, which they want reimbursement for, so it's logged on your paperwork. The flush is the fix, so it will seem different, because it's shifting correctly.

Door rattle? Loose screw floating around in the door or bass speaker type vibration?

The advisor said they flashed it - but the paperwork isn't descriptive other than listing Fluids...

For the door rattle -- it is only when I close the door -- sounds like a metal clip is loose near the handle

The TSB # that I was given is: 16-NA-175 The Document ID is: 4526930 from http://gsi.ext.gm.com I think only service shops can access it.

They did the triple flush and reset the "learning" to factory state on my truck but I am still feeling the shudder. I'm going to put some more miles on it before I take it back to the shop.

Got my '17 Canyon back from the dealer on Thursday. I have not yet driven it the 200 miles that is specified in the TSB. The TCC shudder has only occurred once or twice that I can tell, however, the hard shift from 3-1 when stopping is still there.

I have a call into the Service Manager to determine if they did in fact user Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF DEXRON HP fluid and not the regular ACDelco DEXRON HP fluid.

I can't imagine driving another 100 miles is going to improve the hard shifting issue and I have my doubts about the TCC shudder issue being resolved now. I've had the hard shift issue from Day 1 but the shudder has only become apparent in the last month or so. I'm wondering if it will come back.

I'm sure I'll be bringing it back in before the end of the week.

Still nothing, in fact my downshifts have gotten much crisper recently. It really gets in gear and kicks you in the butt when you floor it. 9k miles.

I console myself on this issue by remembering that at least it wont leave you stranded anywhere, it's just the tcc. If you are out of warranty and it happens you can just totally disable the tcc by tune. Or alter the slip profile until it goes away.

Anybody see this on an 2018 model. Just got mine and cannot tell if it is doing it. I had a full size Sierra before so not sure if it is the tires and road feel or if it is the Shutter...

I only have 1,000 miles on my 18 ZR2, but I am loving the shifting. There is a an occasional slightly rough downshift from 2 to 1 when coming to a stop, but I wouldn't have even noticed it if I didn't read about problems on here.
I do notice a slight shudder once in a while, but I can't really tell if it is the road or the truck.
