My 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation with only 22000 miles on it, on the last day of bumper-to-bumper warranty ignition would not release key. I contacted GMC via phone and informed them of situation, was told take to dealer and ask if they could do anything for me. Two days later, was charged $980.00 for ignition module replacement. Dealer chose not to honor warranty that expired by two days, since I have found this is known issue that GMC is aware of! Now I'm frustrated and have lost confidence in the vehicle lasting for years of worry-free driving. I'm 72 years old and had hoped this was last of my list of purchases.

You might consider asking for arbitration since you made GMC aware of the problem before the warranty expired. If anything, it will cost the dealer and GMC $$$ to attend the arbitration hearing. So, they may be willing to offer some $$$ to settle the case.

Call GMC and explain it to them, open a case with them.
I had not heard of a ignition module going bad.
Some timea if the front wheels are locked in a certain position you have to turn the steering wheel real hard then turn the key to get it out.
The the button on the shifter going bad, flip the switch a few time and they key comes out
