I'm the only driver and the only one with keys/fobs.
I might have to take better care of the Gen3 fob because its linked to the User. (on my todo list to check)
If I change Fobs, not sure what I would have to modify so the truck still knows its me.
I know I already set the seat memory #1 and fob for user 1, not sure if there are other connections / settings.
The AJT cases are simply replacing the outside of the case and buttons, the circuit board is reused.

I am not sure if AJT has a version for the 3rd Gens, they do have one for my 2020 Silverado.

I think the way I use my remote, or don't use and just carry, I think those simple silicon covers I see on Amazon would be more than enough

Maybe. I really liked the AJT case on my 2nd Gen. I worry that the one for the Silverado is going to increase the size of the FOB. There was not much I really liked about my wife's old Nissan, but her FOB was slender and fit in the pocket nicely.

The FOB on Wrangler is huge, makes my Silverado look small. It is a switchblade design, but I have never needed to use the actual key.

I am trying to figure out how to add the option of Keyless Open and start to a trailboss 2025 colorado. It seems as though the trail boss does not come with the 'grabbing of the door handle and it unlocks with key fob in your pocket' on the Trail Boss.
You can get remote start, but not “vicinity” open. I don’t think any Colorado has that option or ever has. But I could be wrong. But not the trail boss for sure. If you want remote start, you buy new key fobs and dealer reprogram of the truck. Fobs and reprogram ~$500. Depends on dealer.

The keyless entry is when you push the button. It will lock automatically when you walk away

I'll take the tomatoes... if the brochure I found is correct and there is a difference between Remote Keyless and Keyless Open / Start.. the WT and Trail Boss "have to" use their remote to get in, while the rest of us don't have to touch the remote at all in most cases, especially if you turn on passive locking. If I had a trail boss, I think I would cut a key as a spare.
Why would you need a spare key? There is one in the fob. If battery dies use the lock cylinder and lay the remote in pass side cupholder to start
Passive locking and the button on doors are two different things.

Passive locking the doors lock themselves after last door is shut. It is turned off and on thru infotainment center

Keyless lock/unlock is the button is turned on and off with remote

Disabling Keyless Unlocking:
With the vehicle off, press and hold lock and unlock on the remote key at the same time for approximately three seconds. The turn signal lamps will flash four times quickly to indicate access is disabled. Using any exterior handle to unlock the doors will cause the turn signal lamps to flash four times quickly, indicating access is disabled. If disabled, disarm the alarm system before starting the vehicle.

Enabling Keyless Unlocking:
With the vehicle off, press and hold lock and unlock on the remote key at the same time for approximately three seconds. The turn signal lamps will flash twice quickly to indicate access is enabled.

I knew keyless unlocking could be done via the remote, but I've done it through the infotainment system as well as passive locking. I know they are seperate systems and with both active, I hardly need the remote. The only time I use the remote is when going into the bed/tailgate.
I just got to used to not needing the remote, I would probably find having a real key more useful.. in hindsight, maybe not, I would just need to use the remote more.

You can buy the fob for your Trail Boss from your dealership. I did!
Does the OP mean “Keyless” open, but pushing a button on a fob unlocks the door, or “Proximitry ” open where simply having the fob in your pocket you can touch the door and it will unlock and open. If Proximitry, which is what though he meant. that option is not available on a Trail Boss from anyone.

If you have passive lock turned on.
Here is what I found.
The 2023 Colorado Trail Boss does offer Passive Locking, but only if your truck is equipped with Keyless Open/Start (proximity key fob). Here’s how it works and what to checled
According to the official owner’s manual, if passive locking is enabled, the doors could lock even with the key fob inside — so don’t leave your keys in the vehicle unattended .
Chevy’s support site further explains:
“If Passive Locking is enabled, the doors and liftgate will automatically lock within several seconds after the vehicle is turned off, the key fob is out of the vehicle and all doors are closed.”

But there is no option in a trail Boss for “keyless Open”. I don’t think you can add it later either. Would love to know if I am wrong. I’ll pay for it. Jeff

I was wrong on my other posts. A Trail Boss with convenience package II has Keyless Unlocking and Start

Keyless, start, stop running, unlock, and lock. Not delay lock! Cost me $250 for 2 fobs!

Even when you have passive locking option on, you can disable it temporarily by pressing and holding the unlock button for 3 seconds, (chime confirmation). It will remain off till you start the truck the next time.
I find this useful when working on my truck and not wanting it to lock up each time I walk away with the fob, or the fob is elsewhere.

No it does not because its base model is the Work Truck to get that feature it’s LT or above I do believe
