I’ve had it do that twice now. The first time just shutting off the truck and waiting a few minutes fixed it. The second time I had to reset the system. I went (on the truck) to settings-> System -> Reset options -> Restart in safe mode. In the on screen instructions it says to shut down engine, open door, close door, then wait 1 min at least (I waited 3 to 5). Started back up and it immediately started working right.
Hold down end call next time for ~10s. It'll reboot the system.

I’ve experience this issue twice now on my 2023. The first time it reset on its own with the truck off for a few minutes. Today it experienced the issue for several hours, including extended periods of truck being powered off. I had to disconnect negative battery terminal to resolve the issue.

Will try disabling the “quick startup” option mentioned above.

Honestly this seems like a safety issue considering the light control button does not work when this issue occurs. I know auto headlights are on my default, but what if someone had set their lights to manual control..

~3 Month update:

Still have quick start turned off, and still have not had anything near the catastrophic failure I had which started this post, nor many other problems. To anyone who might've gotten their truck in the last couple months and is having infotainment issues, highly recommend turning that off. (thanks again @troutspinner!)
Home -> Settings -> System -> Quick Startup.

Things to note:
  • I did not continue the data plan after the 1 month unlimited plan expired, so i have not been using the built-in google maps app or wi-fi (was running the first time the system locked up)
  • Still having minor bluetooth issues as many others do. Occasional super weak connection even though the phone is 1 ft away in the cupholders.
  • Not using android auto regularly at all
  • Truck is still awesome

Wanted to start a thread and document this issue i'm having, in case any of you are also seeing it.

I've had my TB for almost a month, and now twice i've encountered this issue where the infotainment system will suddenly lock out all touch screen capabilities rendering the system almost worthless.

The radio, google maps, and everything else will keep running, but the screen brightness dims down to about 30% or 40%, and none of the buttons or anything else on the screen is responsive. The analog volume dial and power button also do nothing, however all of the steering wheel audio controls will still work.

While this is happening, the driver info/speedometer screen will be constantly shifting the brightness levels up and down.

Stopping the truck and restarting immediately won't fix it, but it does fix itself if you leave the truck sitting for a while. I'm not sure how long it takes exactly, as both times it's happened, I've gotten home at night and then everything is back to normal by morning. If it happens again this week i'm going to try a hard reset on the system (if i can? still looking into it), and will then make a service appt after that if need be.

Anyone else experienced this yet?
This is also happening on my 2023 Colorado TB. It started on my way home from the dealer after getting its first oil change. When I left home on my way to the dealer I noticed the temperature from the last day I drove it was still on the screen but eventually updated. I did try shutting the engine down then turning back on but that made no difference. It’s currently parked outside at home. I’ll try it again in a few hours and see if it “fixes” itself.

I just purchased a 2023 Canyon Denali. Only had the vehicle since last Friday 9/15/23, 300 miles so far. Yesterday, while driving, the screen went blank, but could still hear my radio. Tried everything, no go. Even stopped to turn off vehicle to see if that would reset it. didn't work. Well now I'm worried as I am going to baseball practice to coach and almost already there. Will be dark when I leave, so gets me wondering if my headlights which were already set on automatic would still come on if the screen didn't come back (hell of a way to be the only way control your headlights among other things). Just before arriving at the field, the screen comes back on like nothing happened. Almost seemed like a short occurred. Driving home, no problem, it was like nothing happened. Now I'm wondering if this will be the norm.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, we've pretty much all had some kind of wonkyness happen with the screens at this point, but its always been temporary. Theres a few different fixes and preventative measures in this thread, take a look if you haven't.

Update: I called the service dept. a short time ago to see if they had a fix for the problem. I was told there is no specific fix yet, but that they are logging all of these problems that pop up and said to bring in the vehicle when it happens again so they can scan and perform a complete check. But also said that others with like problems have also experienced fully drained batteries when this has occurred.

I’m

I’m having same issue with quick boot turned off. Stopping by dealer to have them check out. Canceled the Quick start weeks ago after reading this post when screen was acting weird. Could be something to do with the google maps as mentioned by an earlier post? im old school would have paid extra to have had all analog gauges and switches. Laptops and IPads are for the house not the dash of a vehicle.

After 1st reading about the QS mode, I turned it off as well. When I drove the truck again later that day, the infotainment screen came back up, I went to the app screen while driving. The screen then froze. Resetting by holding down the button on the steering wheel did nothing. Always came back on the same way. After stopping for about 1 1/2's hr, got back into the truck and everything was working. By chance I put the QS mode back on and since then (has been several days) no problems at all. I just received the latest update and so far, knock on wood.

Are you using the built in google maps app, as opposed to android auto or apple carplay? Im still wondering if this is a common denominator, as i have not used the built-in stuff since that trial data plan expired, and I haven't had this problem since.
I tend to agree with you though, I don't really need this truck to be such a cyborg.

What is the latest update? How do you know? I check mine every time I start the truck and always tells me I’m up to date. I’ve had the truck since early august and it’s never updated, as far as I’m concerned.

Are you looking for system updates (which would include updates for the infotainment system, as opposed to the android apps)? That is in a different menu, SETTINGS > SYSTEM > UPDATES if im not mistaken. It does seem like we're all getting updates at different times, so you should get a notification in the truck when an update is available.

After the update completed, the message on the screen read "Update Successful". Later, I opened 'myGMC' app and it detailed the update info.

I am having problems with my info system doing all sorts of odd things. Turing on and off by it self, having the FM station and the Bluetooth both on at the same time (the sound). If I touch the volume button it stops and the comes back on. Sometimes when I turn off the car and lock it, I can still hear the raido running. This is just a few things. Took it to the dealership and they charged me nearly $200.00 to tell me that the whole thing needed to be replaced. Part # 84708000 over $1000,00 to do that.
