Wanted to start a thread and document this issue i'm having, in case any of you are also seeing it.

I've had my TB for almost a month, and now twice i've encountered this issue where the infotainment system will suddenly lock out all touch screen capabilities rendering the system almost worthless.

The radio, google maps, and everything else will keep running, but the screen brightness dims down to about 30% or 40%, and none of the buttons or anything else on the screen is responsive. The analog volume dial and power button also do nothing, however all of the steering wheel audio controls will still work.

While this is happening, the driver info/speedometer screen will be constantly shifting the brightness levels up and down.

Stopping the truck and restarting immediately won't fix it, but it does fix itself if you leave the truck sitting for a while. I'm not sure how long it takes exactly, as both times it's happened, I've gotten home at night and then everything is back to normal by morning. If it happens again this week i'm going to try a hard reset on the system (if i can? still looking into it), and will then make a service appt after that if need be.

Anyone else experienced this yet?

By plugged in do you mean physically plugged in? I have not done that, only connected via bluetooth. I have not been using android auto either.

Lots of infotainment/screen failures and blackouts Usually disconnecting the negative battery terminal resets it.

Are you a troll or just trying to justify in your mind why you cancelled your own order?...every post you embellish how significant the number of failures are with these trucks based on BS from FB and a few minor hiccups folks on here have reported. There is tons of new tech in these trucks and there is going to be a few bugs, especially with electronics, early adopters should know and expect a bit of this. If the issues don't get resolved or become the norm rather than a few exceptions then fine, we should all holler from the highest mountain but until then just relax and don't fuel the fire with biases and opinion...unless you have actual firsthand knowledge and stats to back it up.

The facts are posted by others above and there are many more on other threads. These are not opinions. Andre is an auto reviewer that bought one of these for himself. People need to know what is going on with these before they spend their hard earned $50K. Its the beauty of social media. Manufacturers cannot sweep issues under the rug like they used to. I hope the bugs get fixed in a reasonable amount of time as I would like to buy another Denali. It does scare me that others have posted their 2020 GM products still don't have the electronic bugs worked out. Time will tell. Good luck with yours.

like I said on your other post yyou posted this video, would this have happened if he had not pluged in an electromic after market devise in to the OBD port?

The un beauty of social media is one person can post the same thing over and over to sensationalize one person having an issue that may or may not be valid

Seems oddly coincidental that a device he plugged in to read basic information that usually comes from the DIC, tripped the DIC. 🤔

Because of all the other reports of screen malfunctions I highly doubt that was the culprit, but you never know. I have sold electronics for 35 years and have seen crazier things happen.

Did you ever figure out how to fix this? My 2023 canyon at4 just started to do this today.
I did what troutspinner suggested and it hasn't happened since, but also haven't been driving all that much. Definitely seems to be worth a try.

"Home -> Settings -> System -> Quick Startup. Turn it off until reliable software updates come out."

What is posted by others aren’t always facts. Here say yes. Facts? No. Especially on the Internet web of misinformation.

I had the exact same problem at around 800 miles. Turned off the vehicle and let it sit for about 10 mins then turned it back on. Resolved itself. Seems the system needs resetting. Also a reboot would be recommended when this happens by pressing the hang up for 10 secs. til a reboot. Other odd things is if you SXM hangs continually with trying to connect, turn off restart at beginning of song when turning on vehicle. Mine would constantly hang on start. I am wondering if the hang has to do with the phone charging. Hasn't happened again since I removed metal stuff off the charging pad.
I find there are a lot of bugs because they apparently don't test a lot of paths through the software. Being open source, usually that means let the user test it so tweak settings and find something that works, then either report it or wait for an update.

I had this happen on a road trip in my 23 Canyon and found this thread looking for answers. I did have my phone directly connected and ask Google for directions and it froze everything. Tried the phone hang up reset a few times and it never work. I’ve also had the SXM issue a week back and the phone hang up restart did work for that.

Turning off the quick start option has solved damn near every problem I've had. I can't even really notice any difference in the start up process, it's definitely not doing a "long startup", so it seems to be a mostly meaningless menu option that maybe only causes problems.
Home -> Settings -> System -> Quick Startup

I had the same thing happen. My volume somehow went to max and it was a very high stress 1-2 minutes as I was in heavy traffic at the time. I was using Android auto and turned off my phone to turn it off. I disabled quick start on my own and was happy to see that the same fix was suggested on this thread. So far so good, but it has only been a couple days. It feels kind of how my laptop gets glitchy if I don't shut it all the way down and it just wakes up from rest.

I’ve had it do that twice now. The first time just shutting off the truck and waiting a few minutes fixed it. The second time I had to reset the system. I went (on the truck) to settings-> System -> Reset options -> Restart in safe mode. In the on screen instructions it says to shut down engine, open door, close door, then wait 1 min at least (I waited 3 to 5). Started back up and it immediately started working right.

You will have to repair your phone after the reboot.
