I was looking at that same Gentex auto dim mirror, but do you or anyone else if it is a simple swap of mirrors (auto dim) that comes with the Canyon AT4 or some Z71's?

Weird to me as I thought this was standard equipment nowadays. I haven’t had a vehicle without it in maybe 15 years….except a 2004 F-150 I inherited due to dad’s passing a few months ago.

any update on this mirror working? I miss the HomeLink in my vehicle.
If you have an iPhone, there are things you can do depending on your garage opener that lets you control it from the CarPlay screen in the dash. I have a Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener. For a single phone setup, it’s about $50. For multi-phone setup, it required a HomePod mini ($99). Now it’s in the infotainment screen regardless of who takes the truck (wife or me).

I have been thinking about picking up a MyQ just to tinker. So the app does show up on CarPlay?

No, the MyQ app does not show up. As to the previous response, Siri does not work to open the door while driving. It required the phone be unlocked, despite the settings, which means taking eyes off the road.

What I did was add the garage door opener to the “Home“ app by making the garage door opener compatible with HomeKit with this device from Amazon:
Smart Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GG1H7TV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

That made it work with one phone. Optional: If you want it to work with multiple phones, you need to buy an Apple HomePod (mini is the cheapest option).

It then shows up on the far left screen of CarPlay in the infotainment screen as a button that says Garage Door. It’s the screen that shows the map with several things on the right. I’ll try and take a pic in the next day or two.

Good info and that was what I was thinking. It isn’t just the myQ device, you have to get a hub and do some extras to finally get it on screen. I’ll stick with my button clipped to my visor. :(

I got MyQ door opener to work with Siri today. Works fine with the phone off or on. The procedure is a little convoluted, but it worked.

No extra hardware, besides the MyQ

I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084Z5QZR2/ref=dp_iou_view_item?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works great - shows up on screen. No hub needed. You just have to make sure the wifi signal is strong enough in your garage/driveway.
Similar to what I got, but you do need a hub if you want it to be controlled by more than one phone/person. Could always buy two of them.

Yes, some of the MyQ openers are already compatible. Mine wasn’t.

This is from my truck last night when I got home, was using Carplay and this comes up once I’m about a 1/2 mile from my house. I have a MyQ opener and the hub on the front wall/garage door and it’s linked to my Apple Homekit. I won’t use the button much because I have automation scenes set up to take other actions when I get home but it’s still handy to have show up.
