I just ordered a Gates locking cap from http://www.rockauto.com for $12.60... Here's the info:

2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO 3.5L 3460cc 211cid L5 FI
GATES 31844 $ 12.60

They also have a Stant locking cap as well for about the same price. Once you go to their page, hit the red button then when the page loads pick the make and model and other options until you select the parts you want... Rock Auto is a great place to get parts...
It is working well and is emissions approved...

Anyone actually confirmed whether or not we have anti-siphon devices that prevent this in the first place? I've done some web searching about the safety aspect of those devises, but the information is hard to come by.

I would suppose that there is the check-ball in the fill tube like so many other cars out there, but if you had some small clear tubing (IV tubing is good, Tygon clear tubing similar) I have a feeling that you could slip it past the check-ball.... went down to the gas in my truck.

In my 95 s-10 there was a plastic float ball in the filler neck. Gas could go around it, but if gas tried to come back up the gas would push the ball up and block the passage. In the case of the s-10, this ball would prevent siphoning

I briefly thought of purchasing a locking gas cap for my canyon, but i remembered when I last had one.

back when I drove my 93 bravada, I bought a locking gas cap for the fear of loosing gas. unfortuntly, one day the key to it would not unlock the cap. I was on E and could not go back home. what did I do? I did the Macgyver move, I pulled out my swiss army pocket knife and started to bash the heck out of it. five minutes later I had the cap in about ten pieces and was pumping gas into my tank.

If a thief reallly wanted your gas bad enough, he/she could just use a tool or two to break the gas cap. Believe me, they are not made of much. Sorry to even bring this up, but if they hated your guts enough they could just puncture your tank and drain it.
