@Montana_Actual ,

One of the things that has surprised me was when GM introduced the 2nd Gen in 2014 (2015 model) , they raised the bar for mid-size trucks. The ZR2 arguably raised it a bit more. The other manufacturers chase GM to introduce models that at best came up to the GM bar but never leapt over it.

Perhaps @hyperv6 is more on point in how he describes the issues with price point versus options that a mid-size truck can support. Almost like all the manufacturers have the same limitations and can't get past where GM has taken the mid-size truck market.

Got a recall notice in the mail for the F-150... the windshield wipers could fail to work or work intermittent at any given point (the second major recall that is mildly a safety concern to me) but more importantly... windshield wipers have been around how long now... that about sums up my faith in Ford.

But I did test drive everything before I bought... the Ranger just hit the lots when I got my truck so I checked to make sure I wouldn't like it... felt it needed shocks new... like any new fird I've driven in the last 10 years. Tacoma just felt gutless and my buddy had a 2007 frontier which was more or less identical to the current gen at the time... long and short no nannies on the Z71 pushed me over the edge... and CCLB. I considered a FS 1500 but the 16-18 trucks always felt cheap to me... and too similar to the work trucks I loathed being in every day... wanted some change.

For laughs, I just messed around with the build a ranger tool and kitted out a "tremor".

Laughable. Actually, it's pretty depressing.

For contrast though, I also checked out the Chevy 1500's... The ZR2 is nice, but for the same setup as the Colorado it's $77K! Equally laughable and also depressing. You can't get a decent well equipped build on a 1500 for under $65k.

GMC fanbois, prepare to apply a tourniquet:
Then I looked into the Denali's because thats the package that starts to offer the same features as the ZR2 (stuff like the 11" cluster over the 8") but I'm not into fake chrome and 20's... so that settles it on that front. For $7k more than the ZR2, I could go AT4-X and get white interior on an off road vehicle with my headlights in the center of my front end with redneckflectors... I mean reflectors on the side of the truck...
Shots fired. :ROFLMAO:

So yea, the CO's got a mostly grey interior with some camo like carbon fiber stuff, but it's really not that bad given the other alternatives. I do think they should have followed the 1500 ZR2 and put the grey stuff only in the middle of the seats as accents here or there, but I can live with it as is. Less to dust off, maybe? I dunno... I was in the army when they switch to the ACU, so it's kind of fitting. Like saying "hey, I know I don't actually blend with anything, but it's not a bad color scheme when done properly". Maybe it's weird, but greys and greens are kind of my favorite colors.

So that pretty much settles it: Colorado for the win.

I looking to down size from a 2013 F150. I have looked at the Ranger but cannot find a Supercab in 4WD. I like the longer bed. I now realize the Colorado has all the options I want in the work truck model at a better price. I also like the V6 over the 2.3 turbo in the Ranger. I am wondering what all of you think of your Colorados and any problems you have had with them.
I bought mine new 2017. I downsized from a 2006 F-250 4dr long bed diesel.

I didn't want a full size(wide) truck anymore.

I still would not consider a Ranger if I had the option to re-do.

I also would not consider a 2023 Colorado for me. No long bed option anymore, only a 4cyl.

I bought the Colorado because it was a N/A V6, had the long bed option with 4 doors. Highest towing capabilities at the time and great payload.

I'm at 94K miles and have not had any mechanical problems as of yet.

Today if I were to purchase another truck it would be a new Nissan Frontier or a used 2017-2022 Colorado.

Keep in mind, you're asking this question on a Colorado/Canyon forum with high probability of bias-positive responses. But the nice thing is these trucks are proven and do not require aftermarket work to make them be dependable.

Yea what answer do you expect when on this forum you ask about whether you’d buy a Ranger. Go to the Ranger forum and ask if you’d buy a Colorado/Canyon and they obviously will say the Ranger is better.
