Truck will not go in park.

So today on the way to work, I was behind a landscaping truck. And all of the sudden a boulder basically fell out of the back of his truck and was rolling in front of me. I tried to slow down to avoid it and couldn't swerve due to vehicles next to me so I was forced to go over the top of it. It obviously bounced into my undercarriage and made a loud thump. Nothing happened with the vehicle immediately so I kept driving with intentions of checking it out when I got to work. Well low and behold as soon as I get to work I try to put me vehicle in park it wont go into park. In fact it feels like there is no park there any more, like reverse and park are one in the same. The lowest it will go is (R) and I had to put it in Neutral to get the **** key out.

Anyone ever heard of this? Or know anything about this? My Warranty expired like 1k miles ago of course.

Well Transmission place said my "Shifter Cable" is crushed from the Rock Impact.
Is this a do it yourself job? Or a dealership 100$'s in labor job.
Check the shift linkage/cable on the left side of the transmission. It could be bent enough to throw it out of adjustment.

Edit: I've got to start typing faster!!!
Lol Yeah since I posted this, I took it to a local transmission shop and found out what it was. However the damage sounds to be about $200.00 to have the work done on it.
Depending on your mechanical expertise and available tooling, any job is "do it yourself". I don't think any special tooling is required, but I haven't changed one myself. I do know that it is in one piece and goes from the steering column to the transmission and will require adjustment. Alldata (for what it's worth) shows a labor rate of 0.6 hours with the part costing about $35. Get a price from the Transmission Shop or Dealer first.

They're saying $222 parts and labor.

Looked it up and it does not look like I would be able to do it myself = (
Did you get the name off that landscaping truck?? ...get it done at the shop and fwd them the bill!
I didn't get the name of the company or the truck.....

It was an unmarked truck anyways, just had landscaping equipment in the back...
ahah sure, the shop is going to take care of that for the truck owner. The shop wants paid. They will NOT, do your work and bill somebody they have no proof of. If you wish to pursue this yourself, go ahead. I'd suggest getting it in writing that the damage was indictive to that of hitting a large object in the roadway. Make sure they say there is no additional damage to the vehicle. Otherwise, insurance can say you bet your truck up while offroading, or hitting a curb, or whatever. Then you have a leg to stand on. But first, you will need to identify the offending truck.

As for do it yourself, what is the $200 worth to you? You can pick up the truck completed after work tonight. orrrrrr, you can tell them not to do anything. Go chase parts. Go home and try to figure it out then spend the time fixing it with hopes is goes as planned. If you don't have a clue where to start, don't have a repair manual and don't have the time, just have the shop carry out the work.
I meant pay it yourself, then pursue company... I thought that was implied lol.
Yeah can't pursue a company I didn't get the name, number, license plate and or any information from. Unmarked vehicle with two Hispanic males driving it.... This will be all out of pocket for me.

Thanks for the advice though.
