Just bought a 2018 Colorado had front end collision damage. The truck has been completely fixed and I believe they had to put a new airbag in and that is the reason that they disassembled the steering/ tilt The tilt and telescope release/ lock bar is stuck it will only let the wheel telescope towards me. Does anybody have any info on how to disassemble and reassemble this. Thanks for the time.

I'm reading your post to say once you pull the wheel out you can't push it back in? Also, no movement up and down? If so, my first suspect would be the crash and it should have been replaced then. Replacing an air bag has no relationship to the steering wheel adjustment.

You would need to find the body shop that did the work.

It’s their problem not yours.

Usually they warranty their work. If not they are obligated by the insurance to restore it original connection. And that includes any ‘surprises’ down the line.

I’m guessing it was done by a flipper. You’re probably gonna have to take it apart and fix it.

The first time I tried mine when new, early 2017, it was stuck, had to give it a pretty good yank to telescope it, then all worked well.

Does anyone have a diagram of how the lever is supposed to be I think my lever is broken it’s stuck in position and the lever only goes up and down millimeters I’ve torn it apart but I’d like to see if the white part in the second pic is broken it is for sure or does anyone know how to bypass and manually unlock the adjustment

I took mine apart a little further than you have here in the picture and the plastic pieces white on the left side and black in the right side were both broken. Trying to find replace parts now but having trouble. Did you ever get new parts?
