Rear facing car seat in a 2018 Chevy Colorado Base

Hi guys!

Sooo my hubby has a 2018 Chevy Colorado Base (extended model) I wanted to know if anyone has ever been able to put a car seat in the back REAR FACING.
Was it comfortable for the passenger side? (B/c I think there is a LATCH System for the car seat on the passenger side, but I'm not 100% sure).
Was anyone able to put the car seat in the middle where the cup holders are? (There is not middle seat).
First time parent and our little one is due this December around Christmas!
So I'm hoping that a car seat will fit or if there is a specific car seat I should be looking into.
Any info will help.... THANKS!!

Wow, what a nice Christmas present. I raised two girls. Children are such a joy!

My 2019 Colorado Owner Manual has 50 pages devoted to Seat/Restraints. Of that 50 pages, 20 are about child restraints. It talks about rear facing child seats (does and don't s)

It also talks about body harm.

You best read it for yourself.

I have seen billboards touting safe child seats & inspections. They could probably help with some recommendations. My grandson, over in Louisiana, is a fireman and he went and took a multi-day course to be certified to inspect child safety seat installation. No way would it be safe to install seat in the "center" position.

Using google to search this site (search criteria: site:coloradofans.com child seat rear facing extended )

This link may give you some ideas on car seats for an extended cab.

And congrats on the new addition.

We've got a Nuna (Pippa Lite, which is crazy lightweight) system and when it's installed behind the passenger's seat, the seat needs to be all the way forward. It would not seat even the smallest person comfortably for long. We'd be better off with the passenger behind the driver, which isn't a good plan for getting home from the hospital. (We're due in about a week.) I dug through all the old posts on this site and even folks with crew cabs have trouble with rear facing seats. Some have resorted to placing the seat in the center with a latch connector spanning the outer latches. I haven't tried it yet, but the center 'console' in the extended cab might pose a problem without something back there to even out the base support.
So for all intents and purposes the baby will only get 'transported' in my truck if necessary. All family trips will be in a larger vehicle - until I can get a 2020 crew cab.
