Good Morning everyone. I am new to the forum.

I just purchased a new 2017 Colorado LT 3.6 v6 auto 8spd Crew Cab Long Box, silver. It had 340 miles when I bought it on 5-29-17. Now at 540 miles. I purchased the oil change program, and bumper-to-bumper program for years/100,000 miles. Before the warranty programs that I added I was at $31,900 for the truck. The local dealership was having a sale on this one.

I will be updating this thread here and there with info, thoughts, pro's, and con's. I will be putting between 22-28K miles on it per year.

I came from a 2006 F-250 6.0 Powerstroke 4dr Long Bed Lariat FX4. Big change, but I love this Colorado. I have been eyeing them since they returned.

I know that there is a side of this forum that has a place for reviews specifically, but this is going to be a thread that I am going to give updates and info I find out as I own the truck. Also, about anything related to work performed on the truck, issues that arise, possible mods, and anything I do with it.

Here are some pic of it:

I quickly hit 500 mile mark.

I do tend to speed more, since the trucks cabin is so quiet.

The amount of space inside is crazy, I am 5'11" 230 lbs and I fit great in it with plenty of space. With the Crew Cab, there is still good space for my two tall boys to fit.

Also the stiffness of the suspension is great, no squishy feeling. It seems to be stiffer than the 1500's I test drove, but not as bad as my previous 2006 F-250. The combo of how it drives so damn smooth with the sturdy suspension is just a fantastic combo.

So far, I haven't come up with any complaints. But it is still VERY early. Yesterday I took the back roads home to exercise it more than just freeway driving,. Its so quiet inside the cab, no road noise.

It is very comfy inside too. I can't wait to take it to Moses Lake and back or to Western Washington and back. 1) to see if the comfy level stays, 2) to see the fuel mileage, 3) to see how it handles the steep hills and mountains.

Thanks - P

Congrats on your new rig. I think you will be very pleased with it. Get that bed lined though.
Thank you,

I have been thinking about that. I am thinking about a thick rubber mat, like the one my company has in their small ranger. Pretty tight on monies right now.
Well, so far I am just over 850 miles on the truck. Still loving this thing. 26 mpg average so far on the highway at 60mph.

Just have a weird vibration noise every once and in while on the drivers side defrost vent. Lately it hasn't been showing itself though.

Taking it in to the dealership on Saturday for them to, hopefully, load the radio with the software to accept the Auto Android App. Found out that didn't come with it. Although, my salesman thought it had it on the truck. So they are going to take care of it.
Well, I filled up last week with ARCO gas, even though they are consider Top Tier, I will be sticking to Costco and Chevron (both Top Tier). After reading about how the Top Tier fuel help outs with DI engines.

I have decided to get the bed of the truck bed liner-ed instead of the mat. So I will be getting that done in a few weeks. I will update with pics when its done.

The rattling I kept hearing, has went away. So I don't need to get that checked out now.

I will be making a 300 mile trip over the mountain passes, and hilly highways this Sunday. It will be interesting to see how it does.8)

Thanks - Preston
Congrats on the new truck. I love my '15 as much now as I did day one. The mod bug may bite. If it does, have fun with it. I've been busy with mine for a while now, and am still doing little things to it, LED low beams and fogs being the most recent, with high beams on their way. GM has made one awesome truck.

Thank you.

I agree on the awesomeness of the truck. I never thought a mid-size truck would be something I would love and/or own. But they have come ALONG way with them these days.
Took it to the dealership yesterday morning. They uploaded the Andriod Auto feature to the truck.

This feature is BA!!!!

Another reason to love this truck.
I took it for a long round trip yesterday.

When I got home I was at 26.2mpg.

While the truck was at the dealership on Saturday, I was able to get a quote for a for the trailer braking system. $162 installed with tax. Not bad. I was expecting more.

For the factory/OEM trailer braking system? I bought an aftermarket for around $100, the OEM would be nice.
Hey dude, welcome to the forums.

Thanks, I took your advice and came over here.

But I am posting in both anyways.

Although it said Curt on the quote, it is apparently the same one they use on the 2500's.

Product is $108.

I took the truck and made a dump run with the converted snowmobile trailer. Not much of a load, and nothing to brag about. But it is the first time actually using it for something other than a daily driver.

Trailer and Load weight came to only 1300 lbs.

Didn't realize you had a long bed. Looks sharp! I kind of wish I would have gotten a long bed instead of the short bed. But it wouldn't have fit in my garage!
Well, yesterday I did alot of driving. 370 miles to exact. I really enjoyed the drive with the truck and I was surprisingly comfortable in the truck all that time. At the end of the day I was at 5,100 miles. I have been racking those miles up since May 29th.

Also, went over quite a few mountain passes too. Drove like a dream.

12K update

I hit 12K miles a little while ago. Its only been about 5 months of ownership.

I thought I would do an update.

Since new I had an irritating rattle in the drivers side dash. I finally took it in to Chevy. They found a screw that had worked itself out. It was somewhere around the steering column area, which was weird cause you could hit the dash and it would rattle. Anyways, that's fixed.

I took it in for its first oil change at 7K miles.

Driven all around in the mountains, putting quite of few light scratches in the paint, oh well. This is a prefect hunting rig for me, and the 4wd works great along with the hill assist.

I did a couple of cosmetic mods to it. Black vinyl for the bowties, removed the air dam, and installed some nerf bars (wife requested the bars).

Installed a new soft tri-fold tonnaeu cover yesterday. It is a Stampede. Picked it on a smokin deal. I have never heard of the Stampede brand. I think they are a newer company, so time will tell how it will hold up.

It sealed up nicely around the bed.

First Year Snow

We had some snowfall here, about 4-5 inches, along with some ice build up.

The Silverbullet drives amazing in the snow and on the ice. The traction control is really nice, and the Auto feature is a plus.

I have always taken it easy on the roads, but of course my only issue is the other drivers out there now.

20K update

This week I rolled 20K on the truck.

Vehicle Car Speedometer Odometer Auto part

Back this last fall I had a puncture in the front drivers side tire while hunting........ The patch job came apart on a long drive this month.

I went to Les Schwab, and they couldn't repair the patch again. They told me that the tires that are put on these trucks, P255's, from the factory are an odd size.

They went to put the spare on and told me that even though the spare is fullsize, its actually a little bigger than the other tires, and that it even has labels on the sidewall that say "temporary use only".

So, I ended up buying one new tire that matched the same size as the stock. Just thought it was interesting to hear this information.

They told me that having two different size tires on the same axle has the potential to cause bad wear on the ring gear and pinion.
