Not My First Rodeo

Traded my 30k 2015 Duramax 3500 for a 2022 Canyon. Dealer took my truck and gave me the Canyon plus 7k. First thing I did was remove the air dam. Level kit goes on next week. Running boards—for my wife—are on order. Thinking of a winch but never used the one on my previous truck. Being married, one wench is probably enough.
I live in northeast liberal sucking California and can go off road just leaving my front door.
Enjoy this forum. Gonna be helpful as I modify my rig.

It was a sad day when I said goodbye to this beast. It would tow anything and being a Duramax, mpg's were passable. But with fuel at over $5 bucks it generally sat in my garage dreaming of days gone by. At 8 yrs old I was wondering about maintenance costs. Downside to owning this beast is that it was a bit large on off road trails. Once, having to turn around on a tight trail I had to nearly back up the side of a mtn to get it turned. I put a lot of personal effort into this beast to personalize it. I remember installing the "easy install" Westin gill guard--10 hrs. And the easy install on the winch--8 hrs. But damn, it sure did look nice. No longer needed the towing of this beast so I decided to downsize. Found a dealer not only to take my beast in trade for a 2022 Canyon AT4, but give me 10k in addition.
Loving the new AT4. I can now actually go four wheeling and not break the bank with fuel costs. Plus I'm not leery of trying any trail.
Twas hard to say goodbye to an old love, but my new girl does everything I want, when I want, and how I want.
I must have died and gone to heaven.

Welcome @Dennis grand canon

Congrats on your recent trade in, that is very exciting!

Looking forward to seeing what modifications you add and can't wait to see some photos of your Canyon!

I have a 2015 K3500 Silverado, Duramax, Crew Cab, long bed, dually with my camper on all the time. It actually would have cost more to upgrade to a 2023 K3500 identical dually than buying a new 2022 Colorado 4X4 Crew Cab. I elected to keep my 2015 and have a Colorado on order. Now I will have a smaller truck to get around town (parking spaces and city traffic).

A truck like that would sell for more than you paid for it when it was brand new where I live... even 8 years old.

Pics of the new rig when you can!

Your Duramax is identical to mine except mine was a single axle. I could not afford keeping the Duramax and have the 22 Canyon.

Said goodbye to Big Bubba and welcomed the new 22 Canyon AT4 into the family
Current mods on the AT4:
removed the dam air dam
added a leveling kit--only about a half inch low now. I can live with it
installed Husky mud flaps
added Rough Country running boards
added a bed matt
replaced floor matts with weather resistant ones

Future mods in the spring when it's warmer:
debadge the tailgate--may keep the door badges
remove the grating on the running boards as they collect dirt; once removed will paint the boards with Herculiner

Nice to see the old truck. What does the new one look like?

Indeed . . . it'll be interesting to see what hi does with his AT4 to make it his own.
That is a really nice truck he traded in. (y)

Hopefully whenever my new truck is delivered, I can show my comparisons.
