Hi, I’m happy to join this group. I purchased a 2016 Z71 extended cab yesterday and so far (250 mile drive home in very windy conditions) I’m impressed! I’m a widow of a certain vintage and have owned more than my share of vehicles.

I’ll be bugging you with a few questions. I will be towing a travel trailer, 20’, 3000k weight, give or take.

How do I know if this truck has integrated trailer brake system? If so, do I still to add a brake controller? The truck has the heavy duty towing package.

Does the trailer sway system work well on its own or do I need sway bars?

My previous TV was a Subaru Ascent and the hitch point was quite high. Other than adjusting the height of hitch, is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Also need new tires, my truck only has 13k miles on it and has the original tires. I only tow occasionally, rarely go off road, and would like a soft, quiet ride. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Greetings & congrats on the sweet new-to-you truck. Colorado towing capacity is 3500-7000 lbs so you're good there. IRT the sway-bars, I don't tow so someone else will need to chime in on this question.

If it has the intergrated brake system the brake controller would be above the light switch

the tow package consist of the 4 and 7 pin connector in the bumper and the 2 inch receiver hitch. The brake controller was another option, if it does not have it, you cannot add it, you will have to get and aftermarket unit

does the trailer come with the anti sway bar or does it have the load distribution hitch?

the tires posted above are pretty good, do you have much snow or ice, as to either a highway tread or a 3 season tire

Welcome to the forum. The truck must have been a garage queen with such low mileage, so nice find! Post some pics of your truck.
No pics today! Very cold, windy and some snow. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

My trailer does not have a load distribution hitch, it was not recommended for my Ascent. I do have anti-sway bars. I’ll have to check my info system on the truck to see if I have the brake controller. Snowy, windy and cold today so I didn’t go out to the garage. Just being lazy!

Ahoy, matey. Welcome aboard.

What kind of cover is over the bed?
Thank you! The cover is a Truxedo LoPro QT. These covers are made in one of my favorite towns, Yankton, SD. I was a sailor for many years and have great memories of that area. These covers come with a lifetime warranty, sadly only effective for the original owner. Looks like new!
