Looks like ClearView has come out with a tow mirror with dimensions closer to stock size. Might be a good option for overlanders/small trailer towing.

If I towed a lot I would have a set of these

Select an option below:

Clearview COMPACT Towing Mirrors, Pair In Black, Electric Power Adjustable And Heated Item: CVC-CG-CC-HEB Our Price: $595.95

Clearview COMPACT Towing Mirrors, Pair In Black, Electric Power Adjustable, Heated With Turn Signal Indicators Item: CVC-CG-CC-HIEB Our Price: $675.95
I was looking pretty hard at those before I bought the boost... but they're kinda chunky / ugly, no lights or signals, no color matching, etc. Definitely a good option for the right person though.

so these smaller ones are not new?
they do have signals

No, I'm pretty sure they're new - I was looking like a week or two ago, I literally just installed my Boost yesterday :p

I mean a forward facing turn indicator, not the one on the bottom / back corner that they show in the pics. Here's a shot of clearview - note the "corner" turn signal:

And then here's a shot of the Boost, note the "front" turn signal (two orange stripes):

The point on colour matching, rear facing spotlights, etc still stands...and most critically, at least for me, is the fact that the boost (and regular clearview) have the second convex mirror on the bottom. That allows you to get regular mirrors for driving, plus the smaller ones for checking trailer tires, backing the trailer, etc. You literally have twice as many useful mirrors to use, which makes all the difference.

I couldn't imagine buying tow mirrors without convex mirrors. You think they aren't that big of a deal until you have them and get addicted to them

Indicator on the mirror says it has a blind spot detection.

If that's available and not a mistake, that'd be the only advantage they have over the Boost mirrors.

Otherwise, the lack of heated convex wide angle, forward and rear visible turn signals, rear spot/flood light, and smaller viewing area for the same price or more in an objectively worse-looking design is a hard pass.

That's exactly how I felt. Not sure the blind spot detector outweighs the heated convex...I can practically see in front of the truck with that thing.
According to this video they can have anything your "truck comes with." That would be blind spot, cameras, and power folding. I think that would be mostly on the Hilux and not the twins.

I went with the standard Next Gen's for the lack of "Dumbo Ear" as I wouldn't need to constantly fold them in. I do wish they were paintable and a quite bit less bulky with the arms/hinge. Perfect mirror for me might be a Boost that's tighter to the cab and a smidge smaller. So far, the ClearView's have been rock solid when towing.
I started out with the Gen 1 Clearview (same as the Boost pretty much). Installed the new Clearview Gen 2 a while back and like them much better. The first Gen and Boost are definitely "Dumbo Ears" but both are great for towing of course.

I like that the 2nd Gen tuck in tighter for more garage clearance. Turn signal and ground light are nice additions too. A matter of personal opinion, I much prefer the look of the Gen 2 Clearview. Still a whole lot bigger than stock mirrors obviously.

Main thing is to stay away from the cheap eBay knockoffs of the Boost, they are apparently very poor quality, based on reviews.

I definitely like the look of the Next Gen over the standard mirrors. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to paint/wrap them.

Clearviews, both Next Gen and Compact can be color matched. Not sure why this continues to be a topic of discussion.

Woah. I did not know that...They need to do a better job marketing that, it might have swayed my decision slightly. Don't think it would have kicked me fully over as the convex is a must have for me, but still...

Yeah, I would've had mine painted for a while now, lol!

Edit: It's under replacement parts!

Yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that. Also apologies for the snarky tone, it was late…
