New (to me) 2015 Canyon 3.5L gas. Nice low mileage. BUT can anyone tell me if this is cause for worry!?! It sure looks like a low oil pressure light to me! Dipstick says full oil level. Stock/standard oil viscosity.

Thanks,
Bill N.

Wow, Thanks hoitzed. I thought that might be it. But one can't be too careful with new toys! Kind of a misleading indicator with the letter L in a circle above!

The letter in the circle is not a lower case ”L” for Low. It is a lower case ”i” for information.

That's a clock symbol since you're on the oil life screen.

Wrong circle.

Interesting how different owners can interpret the same symbol in different ways! :)
You sound like my wife, depends on which circle she means, and which one you are looking at... since there are 2, there is never a right answer because you are always looking at the wrong circle..

The owner's manual will clear up any interpretations and can be downloaded from Chevy's website.

Hmm... On reviewing the photo I do see that there is a letter i in a circle at the left. I was focused on the analog clock-like letter L in a circle above a dripping oil can symbol! Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to see the oil pressure in this year of Canyon until it is probably too late...

In the owner's manual I find:

(picture of an oilcan symbol)
then:
"This light should come on briefly as
the engine is started. If it does not
come on, have the vehicle serviced
by your dealer.

If the light comes on and stays on, it
means that oil is not flowing through the engine properly. The vehicle
could be low on oil and might have
some other system problem. See
your dealer."

Thus my concern.

That is the warning lights in the instrument cluster by the tach(page5-22 of owners manual). The picture you posted is the "Drivers Information Center"(pages 5-25 to 5-31 of manual).
They should have used 2 different symbols as to not confuse people!

what he /\/\/\ said the oil can is at the bottom of the tachometer, along with numerous other red lights, well at least I think mine are all red...

Nope, you're confusing the warning light for oil PRESSURE with the DIC (Driver Information Center) info page showing oil LIFE. They both have an "oil can" but if you look at the pictures provided for reference in the owner's manual you will see that the low oil PRESSURE warning light is just a light in the gauge cluster. See my crude reference below. The oil PRESSURE warning light is circled in blue. The DIC is the screen in the center of the cluster. For the oil LIFE display in the DIC, the manual says the following. It's important to pay attention to the details. The DIC screen specifically says "Oil Life" right on it and has nothing to do with oil pressure. Hope this helps!

Oil Life : Shows an estimate of the
oil's remaining useful life.
If REMAINING OIL LIFE 99% is
displayed, that means 99% of the
current oil life remains.
When the remaining oil life is low,
the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
message will appear on the display.
See Engine Oil Messages -> 135.
The oil should be changed as soon
as possible. See Engine Oil -> 288.
In addition to the engine oil life
system monitoring the oil life,
additional maintenance is
recommended in the Maintenance
Schedule. See Maintenance
Schedule -> 369.
The Oil Life display must be reset
after each oil change. It will not
reset itself. Do not to reset the Oil
Life display at any time other than
when the oil has just been changed.
It cannot be reset accurately until
the next oil change. To reset the
engine oil life system, press and
hold V for several seconds while
the Oil Life display is active. See
Engine Oil Life System -> 291.

Just wait until next winter. You'll get the light that tells you it's time to sit on a toilet
