I have a 2012 Chevy Colorado and want to know how big of tires I can put on before I start snapping axles and I do off-roading I have the z71 package with the i5

Snapping an axle is more a result of reckless driving vs tire size. Sure, tire size contributes, but you can blow an axle on stock tires if you "just send it". Meanwhile a careful driver on 37's could last a lifetime.

You can put the largest tires you can fit without a lift and probably be fine. You'll be lucky if you can stuff 33s.

So like 35 at the most I do like full on Rock crawling in Moab so from flex and just bumping it up brocks and doing up rocks I have had buddy’s snap axles

Sorry that makes no sense what I just said bumping it up rocks and my buddys snap them from spinning out going up rocks
You answered your own question. And yes, ANY sort of wheel spin with sudden traction will break things. Although not always possible, slow and steady is the way to preserve parts. It might not be exciting, but to me, not breaking things is exciting.

This is my argument against the G80 locker. Great idea but is based on a spinning wheel that suddenly locks up.

Don't half ass it, go all out.
37's have destroyed rear diffs in the past. Larger wheels/tires add weight and more wear and tear to the brake, suspension components and shocks.
I opted for 33's, it's fairly easy and cheap. 35's or larger gets spendy and unless you live to crawl you don't see that big of benefit.

then why ask us if your buddies are breaking axles?
