Hello I'm Dakota I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado and the belt is squeaking how do I fix it?
TIA
First off, WELCOME to the forum Dakota!
I'm assuming that you are talking about the fan-alternator-air conditioner belt know as a
Serpentine Belt. Serpentine belts squeak for two primary reasons: cracked and worn out or the idler tension pulley is bad. Both are easily fix at a minimum expense. Just go to your nearest auto parts store and buy replacement belt AND tension pulley. Replace both and you are good to go for 50,000+ miles.
If you have never done this before, look up a buddy who knows how to do it AND take pictures of how the belt is wrapped around all the pulleys before removing the belt and the tensioner. With the aid of the photos, you can easily do it yourself if you are handy with tools. I have attached the following video as an aide.
