Fuel Filter Change With AEV Skids

Anyone done it and found the secret? I ended up dropping the transfer and transmission skid as one to get them swapped. Hope I'm missing something that will make the next trip a tad easier.

Haven't found any tricks, unfortunately. It's such a pain that I currently have the t-case skid and transmission skid dropped to fix my transmission cooling situation and figured I'd change the filters as well.

I'm kind of glad I have to... otherwise I'd never drop the t-case skid and pull all the sticks, mud, and debris off of it. I threw it out in the driveway and pressure washed, foam cannon'd, and rinsed it as well. Looks great, minus the gouges and wear marks...

You can top off your transmission fluid with the skids on. Not sure why you'd have to, unless you experience some kind of failure like I did. But it's possible.

I guess the real saving grace is you can leave the transmission bit all bolted together. Jesus, I don't think I'd do that again.

Yeah that was awful. 8 bolts for the tcase and transmission isn't too bad. Just bulky.
I just changed the filters yesterday. No way to do it without removing the skid. You only have access to the water drain.

I've been delaying it because I've done it before really a bad design, I think a door or bars like they did on the tranny skid would of not made it such a PIA.
