Living in middle Tennessee now, and everything's OK here. My wife's family lives in West Tennessee, and it's pretty messed up in Jackson and around there.

I was doing some project work on the plant expansion at the Mercedes assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama about 4 years ago (about 60 miles south of Birmingham).
Folks there take tornados seriously!

I was working with several Europeans and a guy from South Africa.
We had an office trailer in a lot with about 50 other trailers just outside the plant.
Those guys were always saying stuff like "I wish we could see a tornado"...

I couldn't believe these guys. They just couldn't understand what can happen and how super-fast it can happen.

I would tell them "no you DON'T want to see one. Here we are in the midst of about 50 trailers, probably 450 cars and trucks, various construction equipment... you don't want to watch a bunch of that stuff get airborne at 200 miles per hour." They just couldn't relate.
