Can someone tell me the proper way to get to the lamp switch panel so I can replace the Dome override switch.

My switch doesn't stay in when pushed so I need to put in another switch.

I usually end up taking off way too many parts when I work on the dash.

Also I might be able to put in a switch and wiring for fog lamp switch at the same time.

Thanks

  1. Start by removing the screw from the side of the drivers side lower dash panel.

  2. Using a trim too, gently pry the lower dash panel loose to revel the screw the holds the headlight switch in place. Remove the screw with a 7mm nut driver.

  3. Using a trim tool, gently pry the drivers side vent loose and remove.

  4. Removing the vent makes it much easier to access the back of the switch to release the electrical connector from the back to the switch.

  5. Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the headlight switch.

  6. Carefully remove the switch through the vent opening.

  7. Take the switch to your work bench to disassemble the headlight switch.

Go figure - I took it all apart - couldn't see anything wrong or broken - not that one can replace just the dome override switch, they only sell the whole unit) so I planned how to bridge the applicable wires outside the box with my own switch - but the switch unit back together, and found the switch now works :D
