Hey everybody,

I bought a '21 Canyon over the summer and since then I've realized how few of these I see on the roads around here. There's a guy with a 2018 a couple blocks away, but outside of us I've seen exactly two in the wild since early June. I'm up in the suburbs, so 90% of the vehicles you see are Subaru Foresters or Audi Q5s. At one point, me and my wife had that exact setup but we couldn't take it any more. I ditched that Audi and it was the best vehicle decision I've ever made.

My truck was hard to find, had to drive out to South Bend to buy it but still... You see a few Colorados (My dad has a 2018) but all the GMCs around here are Sierras. If there's any northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin meetups planned - count me in!

So naturally, I turned to the internet to talk about my truck. Been lurking since April, but just registered yesterday to ask a question about a lift kit. The info is great, everybody seems cool & friendly, and I've learned a lot from these boards. You all are basically the exact opposite of the rest of the internet. Well done.

Here's my 1 newbie question:
Do we have a resource for rating or recommending mechanics? I'm looking to get that lift done and eventually supercharge, and I'd love to take my truck somewhere that people have had a good experience with.

Thanks! Nice to meet you all

From what have read here, if you are going to do it yourself; look for a "off road" shop in your area. Seems to make sense, let the guys who actually off road themselves install that type equipment. They had lots of practice I assume LOL

That's a good idea. I've got a shop I like for routine maintenance and the easy mods (they did my exhaust, for example) but I could really use a specialist to do the lift and set me up for offroading

You plan on offroading in the suburbs or you going to use the lift? Its amazing what a tune will do for the 3.6. Bought mine in Wisconsin. Price was right at that time.

Well, even if there was somewhere to get off the pavement around here they call us flatlanders for a reason right?

We've got a property in southern wisconsin, that's what I'm trying to get set up for. Parts of it are really only accessible with an ATV, but you can't really haul anything in or out with what we've got, and I'd rather put the money into the truck than buy a new four wheeler.

Plus my kids are 4 and 6, and it's going to be at least a decade before their mom will let me turn them loose on the trails.
