Hello. First post on the forum. I have an ‘18 and I want to mount a winch on or near the front part of the bed that’s against the cab near the Chevy logo. I was thinking about the overland rack style but very low profile, and then welding a steel plate to it so I can mount a winch there. Open to other ideas and willing to fab something up or buy an aftermarket solution.

If you can picture loading a 4 wheeler in, that’s what I’m going for, but a different type of cargo, and under 250lbs.

Thanks in advance.

Do you really need a winch for such a light load? I’m working on a setup for loading something too heavy for me to pick up, and I will just be using a come-along anchored to two tie-down rings.

I considered something like that. I came up with a solution and will be gathering materials for it this weekend. Might take some pics and post it. I’m pretty sure you can modify my idea to pull 5-700 lbs.

Or, maybe something in the lines of a boat trailer winch...faster than come-a-long. :D

The home brew kit would be a great idea for a old truck you didn't care about.

No way I'd spend that kind of time on my newish Colorado. Buying a trailer would be easier.
