As the title says... roof top tent on a rack system? This is extremely appealing to me for some odd reason! The are extremely expensive, starting prices for these tents is 1.2k and goes as high as 4k~ (after tax)

The other build above is for a "bed top tent". I've got a cap, so I would need a cab roof top option.

I've been considering rooftop tent options as well. You can get them for about 500 on eBay used they are listed occasionally or ~$700 new for a 2 person you just have to dig a little deeper on the interwebs check out CVT

Personally, the first roadblock I would see is that most would prefer to first install a permanently mounted (drilled and riveted) roof rack. I've only seen one member do it thus far, I couldn't get much info from him about the exact legs he purchased. I've got the rhino rack clamp-on kit coming in tomorrow for hauling other things but will eventually move to something permanent. The model of tent that I have been eyeing exceeds the weight of the clamp-kit but fits within the capacity of the kit that the other member has installed.

I will either purchase one of the smaller tents to reduce the weight and use my clamp-on kit OR get the stronger rack and go with the tent size I like. I hope someone beats me to it so I can look to them for guidance on parts, but I will have this done at some point this summer if I have to be the guinea pig for the betterment of the group
