So I haven’t really done anything to my zr2 since I bought it brand new. Now that I have 130k miles on it why not. So I just ordered 1.5” wheel spacers all around. I’ve been running 265-70-17 tires for the last 35k miles. I had no rubbing and a lot of clearance. So I was looking at upsizing my tires I have about 4” of clearance of flat ground with my steering maxed out. I’m looking at the 255-75-17 which is 32.1” based on the chart. I’m sure they will clear but I’ve read so many threads about people needing a leveling kit to get a tire similar size to fit. Has anyone ran this setup? I think I will have some trimming once I put the whee spacers on. I’ll post pictures when they are on.

Welcome to the community!

It would be considered an aggressive fitment however should work if you are willing to do some trimming. I have seen a few guys running aftermarket 0 offset wheels which would be the equivalent of about a 1.3" spacer, your 1.5" would be just a hair more, they run the 255/75/17 with minimal rubbing.

A few considerations, due to worn components and manufacturing tolerances, every vehicle sits just a little different, even in the same model and year. Also tire manufacturing has a tolerance as well so tires can be a bit bigger or smaller to their size.

If you would like assistance diving into this further feel free to send us a PM, we are happy to help.

Probably have to trim the pinch weld and plastic around it, take about 15 minutes....

tire size is an approximation, rarley have I seen one that is the size it is claimed to be.

post a couple pictures when done

One tire showed up today the other three are supposed to arrive tomorrow. If all goes right they will be installed this weekend. It’s going to be tight just looking at the tire next to the one I’m currently running. I’ll post some pictures thanks for the info

looking forward to pics.. thinking of something similar.

there are pics of a zr2 guy with 255/80r17, trimmed fenders, but no lift on the big tire thread:

And a non-zr2 Colorado with no lift, Fox 2.0 coil-overs, and 255/75r17 here (both have sst pro tires):

Okay, so after it’s all said and done I can officially say I am glad I didn’t order 285s. I was rubbing BAD! I trimmed as much as I felt comfortable trimming and I’m still rubbing. It’s not near as bad but on flat ground with steering maxed out it’s still hitting on the back of the wheel wells. I’m getting a detail tomorrow so I’ll post better pictures now. It does look good but damn 285s would’ve ripped my front end out.

Thanks for posting. I guess that means I'll be going with 265/70s when I wear out my 265/65s... especially since I have to worry about rubbing up front on the waffles as well.. ('17 Z71 with leveled ZR2 suspension)

I haven’t decided how I’m going to do it but tomorrow the cutting wheel is coming out and I’m making some room. I lost both fender flares today after all the trimming I did. I think I’m going to trim to the top of the what was the fender flare. I’m just going to take it all off and be done with it.

there are videos on how n where to trim and then put your flares back on in a different postion, my neighbor did that with his ZR2 and has spacers with 285's nd he does go 4-wheeling and no rubbing. THe new guy with a thread called 34's has a video on the how to

brobocop, FYI he is running a 1.5 inch spacer
