Hello new member here. I'm down sizing my 2003 Chevy 2500hd diesel. I used it to commute to work and haul my 5th wheel. I will be selling the 5th and will no longer need such a big truck. I have my eye on a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado diesel. It looks to be in great condition with 127k miles. 95% of it freeway miles. I commute 7 miles to work 5days I week. I do haul trailers often. With this many miles on the truck, am I asking for trouble in the near future? Looking for some input.

Try and find a 19+ if you can, injectors were redesigned and they seem to have worked out the issue with wrist pin failure. If you do end up getting the 17 plan for the timing belt service at 150k.

Do not neglect maintenence on these trucks, stay on top of oil changes, fuel filters and run a quality fuel additive.

I have always worried these baby maxs will get clogged up with Nox emmision code failures for those that drive them allot with short hops. I've heard you really need to driver them 30 miles to get the operating temp up etc.. IMO, its a good motor and transmission. The DEF and all the other crap emissions is the failure point.

Its those short hops that messes with the emmisions on these baby maxs. If they drove it on freeways it would do better. Once you start driving 7 miles to work the Nox will pile up and may start throwing codes. If I could, I'd buy one and delete the DEF but its not legal in my area. This is a wonderful motor with a decent tune and DEF deleted. With it, not so much. Better off keeping your big diesel. Those do better then smaller ones. GM's inline six has too many issues as well. Some are very labor intensive to fix.
