Crude mock up for reference. Recently replaced the entire exhaust (minus the manifold) as the old one just now fell to pieces. The old pipe broke in this spot once. Had it welded and all was fine for a whole 6 months. Broke again, had it repaired again. Fast fwd to the brand new exhaust. This same pipe broke in a measly 2 weeks after install. What gives??

Well guessing it was not a stainless steel exhaust.
Is it also having impact damage?

Nope. Daily driver to work and back.

Also, not stainless, but 2 weeks? That's ridiculous.
Where are you getting the exhaust from?
Ether using bad steel or made wrong

Well either your mechanic needs to replace it again
Or you need to go somewhere else and have it fixed hopefully correctly

Have heard that Walker exhaust parts nowdays are not very good. In the old days, you could not buy anything better. The tag looks like a Walker tag. If it is, contact Walker and see if they can help you with some sort of warranty reimbursement. The mechanic will not assist because he does not want to redo the job for free labor.

I would check motor mounts. If the engine torques too much it can stress the exhaust.

However, that said, there should be a flex pipe in the exhaust closer to the exhaust manifold.

If someone. . . a shop . . previous owner(?). .. .. "repaired." an exhaust problem by welding in a standard pipe. . . then no flex.

But i would check motor mounts too. Have someone on the cab with engine running, Set parking brake on full . . . also have them apply the foot brake hard. Place gear selector in Drive
. . Then pop the hood . .. stand off to one side. . left or right fender and see if the engine moves up and down more than just a little.

Either the exhaust is under tension and/or your motor mounts are broken.
Hmm . . the post right above yours says the same thing in the first sentence. . .. LOL

Like minds. . .
