leaf springs

my leaf springs are SHOT... and the dealership will not replace them because i have shackles, because " the shackles push the leaf springs down, instead of pushing the body up" according to them...the springs are warped near the eyelets in the front and rear of the spring... i was wondering if there were any leaf springs i could use from a different vehicle that would be a bit more sturdy.. also they said that they had never seen a colorado with this problem...

Re: leaf springs

I'm not buying the dealers excuse. The shackles only change the distance between the spring eye and the frame, hence the lift. Most likely due to the 'soft' leaf springs GM uses these days in an effort to make the truck ride better.
